Above is a picture from L’Osservatore Romano via the Rorate Caeli blog. The picture was selected by the Argentinian blog Caminante Wanderer Revisited. (see here)
The following is the Rorate Caeli text:
The Remains of the Day
According to the Il Foglio article, this scene is repeating itself with regularity at the papal general audiences and in the Square of St. Peter. Readers of this blog should not be shocked, since we have been chronicling the systematic and unabating destruction of the institution of the Catholic Church by a cabal of 1960’s reactionaries lead by Francis, the bishop of Rome.
What is important to notice in this picture is the complete collapse of any sort of presence of the Faithful at this particular Francis Event. Not only is Francis repelling the faithful Catholics away from himself and the Church, but he is unable to “attract” any new followers, adherents, groupies… or even accidental tourists for that matter, in their place.
What is also of note, is that we are in the Francis Holy Year of Mercy. If this is how the following year is going to unfold, then we could be closer to the end of this FRANCIS NIGHTMARE PONTIFICATE than we suspect.
Please keep in mind that even reactionaries need to eat.

Christianity and the United States
Ninety five per cent of our founding Fathers were European Protestants and Catholics and even though we came up with the separation of church and state the country continued to honor our Jude-an Christian heritage, laws and holidays. Saturday and Sunday became days of rest. Christmas came later except for the Catholic state of Maryland. As we began to immigrate we brought in other ethnic and religious peoples. These peoples integrated and participated with our culture and were not offended by it. As long as they were free to practice their religion. It is ludicrous to have our society and economic enterprises enjoy the sales, benefits of Christianity then celebrate Valentines day, Easter, Halloween and Christmas and not mention them by name? http://www.catholicendtimetruths.com
Merry Christmas Joseph Saraceno

It would be more useful to go to the websites of the photographers who cover papal events, Osservatore Romano and Felici, and look at wider whot photographs. Close in photographs can too easily be chosen to make the desired point, with either an unrepresentative sparse or packed crowd chosen for a particular photograph. We really need photos of the entire square to form a better view.

HI,
The problem is that if you look at the entire catalogue, you will notice that those shots and angles that could tell a “fuller” story are missing. All we get is close up at ground level for the most part.
But the Vatican knows…

I experienced something akin to briggs. I was in the Eternal City for an ordination on October 1, 2015, and caused quite a stir in my group when I refused my ticket to go to the General Audience on September 30. I did meander down to St. Peter’s Square out of sheer curiosity, though. I was quite surprised to see the size of the crowd, which was full to the obelisk and then some. I was expecting a lighter attendance based on other reports I’d seen on this and other websites. Maybe a final rush before the end of the tourist season?
The last General Audience that I attended was under the reign of Benedict XVI–of beloved memory–in November of 2008 and it was in Paul VI Hall. It was full but I wonder what the crowd would have looked like had it been in St. Peter’s Square.

Thank you for your comment.
W/r/t the crowd numbers, I am trying to discern a trend. Individual Francis Events could have larger or small attendances, depending on “one off” factors.
What is important to note though, is that THIS Vatican tracks these numbers very carefully. I think it is not a stretch to suggest that much of the strife within the Sacred Vatican Walls is on account of these attendance figures.
Please recall, it was the Vatican itself who put out the “very significant” attendance drop off for the Francis pontificate this past August, in the run up to the synod.
We did the following post about just this:
From the visual evidence, it would appear that that the Vatican attendance figures have fallen significantly.
Again.

Not to disparage your post, or to deny its truth on December 2nd, but we were in Rome on October 28 2015, and St. Peter’s square was full of people for the Wednesday audience. Not as jammed and hysterical as October 2011, when we were almost crushed in the mob…

That was during the SP pilgrimage if I remember correctly. It was also the end of the Shameful Synod, so one would expect a better crowd.
But the trend is definitely not the neo-modernist’s friend. 🙂
