Today some more insights into the funding side of FrancisChurch.

The below is your humble blogger’s translation of a post that appeared on Marco Tosatti’s website. (see original untranslated version here)

Very interesting information…

And it’s a lot worse than this humble blogger initially thought…

Here is the most important new information:

The Peter’s Pence is an offering made to the Pope for the mission of the church (and therefore also to cover the expenses of the Secretariat of State, it is said it makes up at least half of the budget (?)) and until recently it was around 70/80 million US dollars. We are told that said Peter’s Pence comes mainly from the United States, rather then from Germany and Italy.

If the above is correct, it makes the information coming from Church Militant about how Francis, the dictator of Rome treated the official US delegation which came to visit him recently, regarding the #Homoclericalist Crisis and potential next steps going forward, all that much more bizarre.

One wonders if Francis concerns himself with Vatican finances all that much, or whether he has a secret stash of DOSH at his disposal (ahem… KIRCHENSTEUER), which allows him to treat the “Mericans” as he does…

And as a reminder, the 2nd Principle of the Lex Armaticus is:

Even Neo-modernists need to eat.

LARGE PIECE: ‘GUAI’ IF THE AMERICANS STOP SENDING MONEY TO THE VATICAN. A WINTER OF ‘STENTSI’ …

Marco Tosatti

The Americans, faced with the incredible behavior of the leaders of the Church, starting with the reigning Pontiff, on the subject of sexual abuse and pervasive and aggressive homosexuality of the clergy are drying up (their support). Do you hold an unqualifiable, arrogant and elusive attitude? We’ll take care of it then. And since they are people who practice their chickens, in fact, given the genus, their capons, they could decide to cut the birdseed. Already the Papal Foundation, a large tank of cash for the cassocks had shown all him their regrets a few months ago. Now “Legatus”, an organization that gathers thousands of Catholic entrepreneurs, has decided not to send any more money to Rome, but to freeze them in a guarantee fund waiting for the Vatican and the Pontiff to respond to the questions raised by the testimony of Msgr. Vigano. On how the Pontiff kindly responded to the leaders of the US Episcopal Conference what to make of their proposals to respond to ViganòGate, you can find this article on La Nuova Bussola Quotidiana. A winter of hardship is being announced for the tender Vatican prelates. On the popularity – waning – of Pontifex in USA, wrote the Huffington Post. Of all this writes Pezzo Grosso, who today also sports his Latin …

“Quid dicis Marcus?

Dear Tosatti, what would happen if the American circles decided not to give any more money to this pontificate? (We are not talking about 8 per thousand going to the CEI – Italian Bishops’ Conference). We are speaking above all of the Peter’s Pence, of which more people are more affected: – Monsignor Viganò, – the former general auditor of the Vatican accounts (Milone) “fired in the trunk” (Ed note: summarily fired) – the former Deputy Director IOR (Mattietti), also “fired in the trunk”. – A former IOR (Vatican Bank) board member expert in banking and finance (Salvatori), also in fact “fired in the trunk”. “Whoever touches the Peter’s Pence dies”, has been (conventional wisdom) at the Vatican for some time. The Peter’s Pence is an offering made to the Pope for the mission of the church (and therefore also to cover the expenses of the Secretariat of State, it is said it makes up at least half of the collection) and until recently it was around 70/80 million US dollars. We are told that said Peter’s Pence comes mainly from the United States, rather then from Germany and Italy. These three countries though pay the predominant part of said Peter’s Pence and in fact, these three countries seem to lead in the appointments and (make up) much of the power in the church. (The Latins used to say: Pecunia not olet sed ut serve ad control here accipit eius (the money does not stink, but it is necessary to control whoever takes it.) If the American cardinals and bishops were to “block” the Peter’s Pence (contribution), the Vatican secretariat could risk closing its doors, since it could cover about 50% of its luxurious expenses (we could hazard a guess of one hundred million euros (annual budget), Mgr Viganò could confirm it), while the rest of the (State) funding is supported from the IOR’s contribution (for about 50 million euros?). Should the Church be poor, (not the Vatican, by the way!) of the Peter’s Pence, (it) could produce more effects. The first could be mitigated by the very rich Knights of Columbus who could compensate for the Peter’s Pence coming from the USA and in return to appoint them the Secretary of State (their choice), to call a Conclave, etc. (their goal, we are told, is also to be able to have the status of the Knights of Malta). The second effect could be that the Knights of Malta, to avoid the taking of power by the Columbus Knights, could do the same, especially looking for resources in Germany. This hypothesis could accelerate the process of Lutheranization of the Catholic Church. The third effect could be to suggest that the American circles that have decided to block the Peter’s Pence do not do so, in exchange for the immediate rehabilitation of Viganò and his appointment as cardinal, responsible for the administration of Church property. Dicit enim sic in quosdam Romanae Curiae Orbes … (at least these are the whispers in some curial circles) But Quis unquam crediderit post Viganò accusent? (but who believes this after the accusations made to Viganò?) Magna Pars (Pezzo Grosso) “.

It’s The Source Of Funds, Stupid!

Today we do a funding post.

And a short one since it is the middle of vacation season!

One of our last posts on this FUNDING ISSUE  was published on the 20th of September 2017, or roughly one year age, titled So Just How OBJECTIVELY CORRECT Was Steve Bannon?

In that post we focused on how much government funds the US Church collects from its HUMAN TRAFFICKING OPERATIONS. To provide context,  we did a back of the envelope calculation to estimate the revenue obtained from pew sitters  who hypothetically contribute on average $1, $5 and $10 per week and how that equates in terms of the funds raised from the said human trafficking operations.

Here is that table for fiscal year 2016:

One way to read the above table is as an estimates of how many pew sitters are needed to make up the revenue shortfall if the US Church would be cut off from their human trafficking operations. We made the above calculation on an inference that if 15.5 million pew sitters attend the “celebration” of the mass of Paul VI on any given Sunday.

If each pew sitter only threw in $1.00 into the collection plate each Sunday, that total revenue would only equal 11.82% of that revenue that the US Church takes in from the government funding it receives for their human trafficking operations.

Let that sink in, dear and loyal reader!

Moving on, a brilliant post appeared at the Restore DC Catholicism blog, titled McCarrick Is Gone, But This Is NOT Over By A Longshot. In that post, a video appeared from Church Militant TV. In that video, the below table appeared which presents the yearly revenue figures for the Catholic Relief Services.

This table contains some interesting information which allows us to make some inferences about the state of the US Catholic Church and about what could be the case going forward.

Here is that table for the Catholic Relief Services (CRS):

Wow, that’s a lot of dosh (as the English would say)!

Which got this humble blogger thinking… SOURCE OF FUNDS perhaps?

Couple of observations about what the above table indicates:

  1. For fiscal year 2016, the Catholic Relief Services had National Collections of $11,767,000. If we assume that the above attendance figures from our 2016 post are accurate(average of 15.5 m weekly attendance), it would imply that each PEW SITTER contributed an average of $0.76 … that’s cents, per year.

In other words, funds which the pew sitters contribute to these Bishop’s appeals  for the CRS is insignificant to the total revenue of the operations of the Catholic Relief Services. For 2016 revenue from pew sitters is equal to 1.35% of total revenue.

2. For fiscal year 2016, the revenue taken in from government funding equaled 77.87% of total revenue ($714.65 m/ $917.76 m) of the OCR. Therefore, the government funding IS significant!

And there’s a lot of IT!

3. On an aside, it would appear that there was a big jump in Catholic Relief Services revenue obtained from government sources between fiscal year 2015 in 2016. This time period coincides with the US Presidential Election. Could this 50% increase ($236.71 m) in government funding be behind the reason why the US Conference of Catholic Bishops doesn’t like our Very Stable Genius President Donald J. Trump?

Moreover, $236.71 m increase for fiscal year 2016 and another $259.74 m in 2017 ($496.45m in total) for the OCR is a huge jump in funding. Wonder if they have been able to spend it already?

Mean while, the Bishop of Montana is only looking for $20 million, or less then 10% of this marginal total of either year? It would appear that the USCCB can fund this amount from their pocket change!

I will leave this thought hanging out there for the time being…

So what we are seeing from the figures above, is that the Catholic Relief Services uses government funding as a stop-gap measure to make up for the lack of pew sitters and their donations. Please keep in mind, the CRS used to be mostly funded through Sunday collections. And it has to be considered “stop-gap” since governments come and go, while the Church of Our Lord will be with us til the end of time.

Furthermore, there could be some good news in the above figures. Aside from the fact that there is a YUGE big fat pot of mullah sitting in the USCCB bank accounts from all this government “largess”. That good news is, that since the majority of these funds don’t originate from the weekly collections, and as a rule do not “trickle” down to the local diocese in the United States, especially to the local parishes in the US, it could be inferred that on average, the parishes on the whole are self-sustaining.

Or to put it another way, what this means is that even at these low levels of church attendance, on average the US parishes appear to be… in financial terms, viable ongoing concerns.

And finally, it would appear that the OCR funds can be easily redirected to pay off any of the “sins” of the intrinsically disordered that have arisen in the past, and will no doubt arise post Uncle Ted crisis.

These funds also appear to be large enough to cover any of present or future liabilities, so no need to reach into either the funding of the parishes or dioceses, not to mention the real victim class of the US Church, i.e. the Faithful.

One more thing. At the end of the “reform” process of the US Catholic Church that must take place now, and after all the outstanding lawsuits are settled, and the liabilities extinguished, what should happen is that the US Conference of Catholic Bishops should be EXTINGUISHED.

I will leave off here for today and let you consider the above!

PS In the video above, Michael Voris and his panel present several loose suggestions about how to deal with this mess. At first glance, they appear to be a good start to trying to define a way forward in which the local Faithful can secure their churches, schools and parishes from the consequences of the actions of these rogue pastors, wolves in sheep’s clothing who have created this unfolding intrinsically disordered scandal.

Please watch the video…

In a post from the 18th of January 2016, titled By Their Fruits You Shall Know Them, your humble blogger tried to shed some light on the funding side of FrancisChurch.

We led that post off with a video of some young FrancisIdeologue making the post-modernist claim that “3 x 4 can equal 11”. Now this video predates the infamous Spadaro post-modernist claim that “2+2=5”.

It’s not a coincidence, is it Dr. Peterson?

And the similarities don’t end there.

Today we get a report coming out of the Washington Free Beacon. It would appear that the usual suspects have been dipping their finger… or rather opening their collective checkbook in the current “revolutionary” environment that is all the rage in Washington D.C.

What is of interest though is that there is the BIG REVOLUTIONARY MONEY, but not a whole lot after that. It would appear as if the MONIED CLASSES are the only ones funding the revolution.

Which would mean that if the MONEY stops flowing, the TROUBLES end.

And that includes the Francis bishopric of Rome.

So the next time you are thinking about throwing something more than a dime into the collection plate, think real hare…

PS There’s better ways to fund your local church and clergy, while starving the local ordinary and his minders behind the Sacred Vatican Walls.

Soros, Kellogg, Ford: Donor List Of Anti–Trump ‘Resistance’ Group Revealed

The Center for Community Change Action (CCCA), a Washington, D.C.-based 501 (c)(3) progressive community organizing group and contributor to the anti-Trump “Resistance” movement, counts some of the most prominent American families among its impressive donor base.  Unfortunately, at least for those donors, their staggering contributions to the secretive group have just been revealed by The Washington Free Beacon and include massive multi-million dollar grants from George Soros, the Kellogg Foundation and the Ford Foundation, among others.

The Free Beacon has obtained the group’s unredacted 2015 tax forms that shed light on its funders, who provide millions of dollars in assistance. The group appears to rely heavily on a few major liberal foundations, organizations, and unions.

The Center for Community Change’s largest contribution was $3,000,000 from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, which was initially created by Will Kellogg, the food manufacturer and founder of Kellogg Company. The Ford Foundation, which was first created by the founders of the Ford Motor Company, added a $2,350,000 donation. The Open Society Foundation, a foundation run by liberal billionaire mega-donor George Soros, gave $1,750,000 to the Center for Community Change.

Other donors to the organization include the California Endowment, which gave $524,500; the Marquerite Casey Foundation, which gave $515,000; Fidelity Charitable Gift, which donated $505,100; and the National Immigration Law Center, which gave $316,000.

Of course, if you thought a $1.8 million contribution from a prominent, billionaire progressive like George Soros was a little stingy, you were right…that’s why he also contributed to CCCA’s various sister organizations, including a $1.5 million donation to their “Social Welfare” arm.

The Center for Community Change Action, the “social welfare” (c)(4) arm of the group, additionally relies on a handful of donors for almost all of its funding, according to its documents that do not include the privacy redactions.

Donors to its “social welfare” arm in 2015 included Every Citizen Counts ($1,750,000 contribution), a nonprofit that was created by allies of Hillary Clinton to mobilize Latino and African-American voters; the Open Society Policy Center ($1,475,000), another Soros group; the Sixteen Thirty Fund ($610,000), a progressive advocacy group; Center for Community Change ($150,000); Services Employees International Union (SEIU) ($150,000); Atlantic Philanthropies ($75,000); and the Tides Foundation ($50,000), the largest liberal donor-advised network, among other funders.

So what did CCCA spend all that money on? Well, if you guessed Black Lives Matter and “Sanctuary Campus” anti-Trump protests then you’re absolutely correct.

The Emergent Fund gives grants ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 and has provided financing to Black Lives Matter; the Center for Media Justice, which was created to “organize the most under-represented communities in a national movement for media rights”; the Muslim Anti-Racism Collaborative; and United We Dream, the largest immigrant youth-led organization in the United States.

The Center for Community Change later joined United We Dream for nationwide immigration protests leading up to Trump’s inauguration. United We Dream was additionally behind “sanctuary campus” anti-Trump protests across the country to protect undocumented students.

Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, it appears that all of CCCA’s progressive activism was about as effective as the $1.2 billion that Hillary spent on her 2016 campaign.

FrancisChurch – In Liquidation: And We Thought It Was About Doctrine And The Dubia…

In yesterday’s post, we outlined a general observation that basically asserted that the reason for Francis’s worse than usual “bad mood” recently, may be the result of money problems.

Today we make more observations about the 2015 Vatican financial performance, while we wait for detailed financial statements to appear in the public domain.

We observed that the 2015 financials reports were 8 months late in appearing and that extraordinary entries, having a “one off” nature, appear in the limited information that has been made available. One of these entries, a €50.0 million figure, described as “from Vatican Bank” is actually larger than the entire net income generated from the consolidated Vatican operations.

For CONTEXT purposes, one must be cognizant of the fact that it is “financial considerations” that are really the driving force behind the Francis bishopric of Rome, starting from the “ATM shutdown” that most likely tipped the scale of the Benedict abdication, to the question as to the FFI “property holdings” that most likely played a large part in the suppression of the FFI and the legal harassment of its founder and his family, right down to the takeover of the “Sovereign” Order of Malta, just to name three.

Now, on the back of this above information, we also need to recall the “strange reaction” of one Cardinal Reinhard “Bling” Marx, the Archbishop of Swank, to the information that Cardinal Pell provided in early 2015, information to the effect that 100’s of millions of Euros” were found in non-disclosed and unknown to the auditors bank accounts,  and now we can start seeing a pattern.

In the above cited post, we can read the words of Card. “Bling” Marx, who made the following statement:

However the German cardinal said that the presentation of specific figures (Card. Pell disclosure) was “not very helpful.” He said that the assets of the Vatican can only be measured meaningfully when they are balanced against financial obligations.

If we are to correctly “discern” the following information, it would appear as if the Vatican (IOR in this case) is in fact cash rich. Yet that cash appears to be sitting in Vatican Bank “accounts” that might not be the property of the Vatican. In other words, the cash is sitting in The Vatican Bank’s client accounts.

On the “obligations” side, the Vatican is generating operating losses. This is most likely what is meant by the phrase “balanced against financial obligations”.

Now the problem with this above situation, (if this is the situation, which it most likely is) is that in an environment of negative interest rates (NIRP) such as is the case in Euroland at present, the Vatican Bank, like all banks has a problem. That problem is that the Vatican Bank does not earn any interest income on its cash holdings. The reason being that the interest rates are negative, meaning that it is the Vatican Bank that pays the corresponding bank (as opposed to receiving interest income in a normal positive rate environment), for that corresponding bank to hold the money of the Vatican bank. And like with any bank, it is this interest income that is the main source of income for a “savings bank”, like the IOR.

So that leaves us with ONE BIG QUESTION and that is this: How does a savings bank, in a Negative Interest Rate environment make €50.0 million per annum?

I will leave this question open for the time being…

Back to the story. Given the above, what we might be seeing is that since the Vatican is losing this source of income (interest income from the Vatican Bank), it is looking at other sources of income to make up for the operating losses. And just a quick reminder, those operating losses are incurred by the Holy See as a result of the diminishing “contributions made pursuant to Canon 1271 of the Code of Canon Law”, i.e. the collection plate income from the Universal Church.

Enter Card. “Bling” Marx’s observation. The issue that the Archbishop of Swank was most likely signaling in the above cited text, is that it is the German Bishops’ Conference that is subsidizing The Vatican’s operating loss. So presenting the Vatican as “cash rich” is very counterproductive as per the Germans, since it doesn’t create the “environment of urgency” that is needed in the Universal Church, an urgency that will get those ‘lazy,’ ‘egotistical,’ ‘constantly condemning’ members in other countries to crack open their wallets and help the brother FrancisChurch out.

Now, the above described situation was the case for the 2014 fiscal year. In that year, The Vatican incurred a €25.6m loss from the Holy See against a €63.5m gain from the City State. This financial performance did not include any “extraordinary” income entries.

Fast forward to Fiscal Year 2015, we get less income from the City State, meaning less pilgrims, i.e. the REAL FRANCIS EFFECT. On the Holy See side, we see no information about cost reductions, yet we see that the operating loss halved. And assuming that the income from “contributions made pursuant to Canon 1271 of the Code of Canon Law” did not rebound (i.e. we can use the decrease in City State income as a proxy for the rate of change of membership numbers in the Universal Church), we are left with the only one answer, and that is that it was these extraordinary income entries that caused the “halving of the operating loss” of the Holy See.

Yet those one off extraordinary payments amount to “€50.0 from Vatican Bank + income from ‘unspecified “investments’.” which would indicate that 2015 might have just been that year when the bottom fell out from the collection plate take in the Universal Church.

Which in turn just might be the reason behind not only the rumors of removing Francis, but it could be the reason behind Francis’ increasing “bad mood” and his lashings out at those conservative, read “moneyed” Catholics.

And we thought is was about doctrine and the Dubia…

NB: If we look at the SSPX/FrancisChurch recognition process in light of Francis gaining a “buyer of last resort” for dormant post-conciliar FrancisChurch – In Liquidation’s tangible assets, it all begins to make sense. But I digress…

So we wait and watch for those 2015 Consolidated Financials to be released…

and read the below article from Life Site News, bringing us Catholics Francis’ latest “homiletics”. (see here)

Pope Francis rebukes ‘lazy,’ ‘egotistical,’ ‘constantly condemning’ Christians

ROME, Italy, January 20, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) — Pope Francis continued his veiled criticism of Catholics opposed to “new horizons” in his homily Tuesday morning, labeling them “parked Christians.” He continued with this theme as he has throughout his pontificate, speaking in this morning’s homily of the “egotistical mentality” of the “doctors of the law” who “constantly condemn” others.

Francis said Christians should be open to change, saying they cannot “park” and be “lazy” when faced with adversity or remain in their “refrigerator.” For some, he added, life is “living in the fridge, just like that, so that everything remains the same.”

Francis specifically mentioned “lazy Christians, Christians, who do not have the will to continue, Christians, who do not struggle for a change of things, for new things to come, those that if changed would be a good for everybody.” Specifying about whom he was speaking, Francis added, “when I say Christians I mean all: lay, priests, bishops, all of them.”

In his homily at Casa Santa Marta this morning, the Pope said, “Consider the doctors of the law who persecuted Jesus. These men did everything prescribed by the law. But their mindset was distanced from God. Theirs was an egotistical mindset, focused on themselves: their hearts constantly condemned [others].”

The frequency with which Pope Francis has verbally reproached those not alligned with his progressive agenda within the Church has seen a marked increase in recent months. Only ten days ago he lashed out at “doctors of the law” who he said were incoherent, hypocritical, clericalist, and lacking in real authority.

francis-not-happy-i

And as expected and predicted on the Deus Ex Machina blog, it has come to pass.

President Donald John Trump,  the United States Commander In Chief (Just love the way that sounds…) has hit the ground running. He has designated “landing teams” to coordinate with federal agencies to cut some department budgets by as much as 10% while slashing 20% from the federal workforce”. (see here)

Thus began the process of defunding vast expanses of the Federal governmental sector and its downstream beneficiaries of this Federal government largesse, i.e. the Non Governmental Organizations (NGO’s).

On Monday, President Trump, in one of his first executive orders, stopped the public, US taxpayer funding of the practice of infanticide, that is carried out outside of the United States. (see here)

Tuesday was pipeline day. (see here)

On Wednesday, President Trump turned his gaze, which can most accurately be described as a beam of “disinfecting sunlight” onto the so called “Sanctuary Cities”. I have reproduced below the catholic Zero Hedge website post titled Here Are 2.3 Billion Reasons Why Sanctuary Cities Are So Upset At Trump that will help to shed much needed light on this issue.

With the above executive order to defund municipalities who continue to harbor and finance illegal uncontrolled migrants and their human traffickers, mostly large cities whose politicians benefit from these illegal migrates as a voting base, (see here) there will be downstream effects. These downstream effects will directly impact the NGO’s who provide services to the illegal migrant enclaves and human trafficking networks.

And the Human Trafficking Industry, including that sub-set that is the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops are already freaking out! (see here)

Of the NGO’s that will be affected most, if only by its sheer size, is what can be called the NGO “FrancisChurch USA” (NGO “FC USA”). And just as a quick refresher, your humble blogger wrote a series of post regarding just this aspect of the post-conciliar church.

A good place to start is with the post titled Yes, We Have To Follow The Money…, in which Elizabeth Yore explains the scope of the government funding that the NGO FC USA receives. In a follow-up post title ZombieOrdinaries™, ZombieDiocese™, ZombiePlans™ Everywhere!, we explained how government funding created the phenomenon of the post-conciliar ZombieChurch™. In a subsequent post, we explained how the advent of the government funded ZombieChurch™ forced the post-conciliar church to look for a new business ecclesiastical model, one compatible with all the Federal Guidelines attached to the Federal funding. This post was titled This Has Nothing To Do With Christian Unity…, and was followed up by a request to the bishops in the form of a post titled The Bishops Really Need To Start Speaking Out About This….

The above linked posts were all written before the 2016 US Presidential election. Subsequent to that election, your humble blogger noted that the Normalization Process™ has advanced and observed that there is now a new set of Defenders of the Faith. Therefore, we titled this post as: Normalization Process™ – Defenders Of The Faith… In this last post, we made the following observation, and it is worth saying it again here:

But back to the subject at hand. The direct impact that the Trump victory will have on the US sub-set of the Catholic Church, especially on the FrancisChurch part that has high jacked the Bride of Christ, is on what is usually described as… THE BOTTOM LINE.

Over the years, we have been explaining how the FrancisChurch part of the Catholic Church in the States has been supporting itself through governmental largesse. If you recall the post by Elizabeth Yore, you will remember that in Fiscal Year 2016 alone, Catholic Charities raked in a whopping $202,247,624. (see here)

In 69 some odd days (Ed. note: post Trump victory), this revenue stream from the US Government to the post-conciliar church, for the most part, will have vaporized.

And just as a reminder, Cardinal Sean up there in that sanctuary city of Boston, had a $20 million short fall in revenue, with a $5 million loss for Fiscal Year 2015. Just think what this loss from the vaporized funding for the sanctuary city of Boston will have on the impact of the Archdiocese BOTTOM LINE going forward. (see here)

NB: HERE is a list of other “catholic” dioceses who will no doubt experience “tightening budgetary conditions” post 20th of January Anno Domini 2017. And this is a good time to remind everyone about the 2nd and 6th Principles of the LEX ARMATICUS, namely: Even Neo-modernists need to eat and Stop giving these leftists money!

And just as predicted, the above has come to pass.

Therefore, the defunding of the NGO “FrancisChurch US” begins!

And on an aside, President Trump’s next series of executive orders will be to start the defunding process of the US’s United Nations contributions. More problems for the NGO’s in general and NGO FC International in particular. All one can say is:

Agenda 21, i.e.  Moving Toward A One World Government, A One World Economy And A One World Religion is looking “distanter” and “distanter! (here)

Here Are 2.3 Billion Reasons Why Sanctuary Cities Are So Upset At Trump

While we are sure Mayors de Blasio (New York), Emanuel (Chicago), and Garcetti (LA) are compassionate men who want nothing more than to ensure the safety of illegal immigrants in their cities, we couldn’t help but notice that, following Trump’s decision to defund so-called Sanctuary cities, the sound and fury spewing forth from various municipalities today was perfectly correlated with the size of taxpayer-money they received from Obama.

Not smiling today…

whose-smiling-now

As Reuters reports, U.S. President Donald Trump’s attempt to strip municipalities of federal dollars for shielding illegal immigrants threatens $2.27 billion in annual funds for the nation’s ten largest cities, a Reuters analysis of federal grants found. While Trump has the authority to cut some kinds of funding to the cities, cuts to other federal funding would require an act of Congress. The total amount remains unclear, as federal money can be filtered through state governments or granted directly to social-service organizations or other groups. The numbers do not include federal money for law enforcement, which was excluded in the executive order, and programs like Medicaid, which are administered by state governments.

sanctuary-cities

Mayors and city councils of those cities have said that they will not be pressured to report illegal immigrants to federal agents…

“Local governments in Los Angeles County, for example, received $582 million in federal aid in the most recent fiscal year. That aid included $207 million for the Head Start preschool program, $70 million last year for airport improvements, and $114 million for community development funds used for housing and other needs.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, on Tuesday, said he is going to put an additional $250 million a year away in reserves for four years because of a “huge amount of uncertainty” emanating from Washington.

If the Trump administration actually moved to cut funding, “we would be in court immediately to stop it,” de Blasio told reporters.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel reiterated the city would remain a sanctuary for undocumented immigrants. In December he pledged $1 million to assist immigrant families.

“(Trump) has vastly overstated the funding that could be at issue with these sanctuary policies. Any attempts to withhold funds will certainly be the source of litigation and the courts, not the president, will be the ultimate arbitrator,” said Peter Markowitz, a professor at New York’s Cardozo School of Law, who focuses on immigration.”

Trump plans to make good on his campaign pledge to block federal funding
to states and cities where local law enforcement refuse to report
undocumented immigrants they encounter to federal authorities, White
House press secretary Sean Spicer said.

“The American people are no longer going to have to be forced to subsidize this disregard for our laws,” Spicer said.

Spicer said an executive order signed by Trump on Wednesday directs the Secretary of Homeland Security to look at federal funding to cities to figure out “how we can defund those streams.”

Of all the criticism that has appeared on this blog about Francis, the bishop of Rome, the one reform that I think Francis should be commended for is the creating the Secretariat for the Economy, and appointing Cardinal Pell as its’ prefect. Having said that, I still do not think that the Vatican should proceed like a publicly listed company, providing a annual set of financial statements to the general public, but this information should must be available to the Roman pontiff at all times.

Below I am reproducing an article which appeared at the U.K.’s Catholic Herald (see here), in which card. Pell provided some insights into the true situation of the Vatican’s finances. The title of the story is funny since it has to do with the Cardinal finding give or take 100’s of millions Euros in the Vatican’s undisclosed accounts. Brings to mind the Everett Dirksen quote about “a million here and a million there, and pretty soon we are talking about serious money”. But I digress… Now, any organization, regardless of its market capitalization, can not afford the luxury of having this kind of loose change lying around unaccounted for. Therefore, what this fact tells me is something that I have suspected for quite a while, and that is that the Vatican is not a financial basket case as has been presented from time to time in the media.

Furthermore, if you dear reader will recall, there were also rumors circulating around the time of Benedict’s resignation abdication, that the said abdication was one the once hand the result of a bad financial position that the Vatican found itself in and on the other hand pressure placed on Benedict by wealthy benefactors to resign. (see here) Oh well, so much for the collapse. Another media narrative debunked, but unfortunately post factum. But this also leaves the lingering question that if Benedict would have known about those “hundreds of millions” of euros in those Vatican accounts, would he have still abdicated?

And here is where I would like to strongly support the suggestion made on the Rorate Caeli blog (see here), for an investigative reporter to research just what was the cause of Benedict’s resignation. From what I have observed about the Rorate Caeli blog, if they did not have credible information that something was “rotten in the State of Denmark”, they would not have put that suggestion out there in the first place.

Now to the article with my emphasis and [comments], and a short conclusion.

We’ve discovered hundreds of millions of euros off the Vatican’s balance sheet, says cardinal

Cd. Pell

Cardinal George Pell offers candid account of financial reforms in an exclusive article in the first issue of the new Catholic Herald magazine

Vatican reformers have discovered hundreds of millions of euros that did not appear on the Holy See’s balance sheet, the cardinal charged with sorting out the Curia’s financial affairs has said. [Wonder it this information has anything to do with our Lukewarm Nuncio being so intend on getting that return ticket back to the Vatican? Somebody had to know about the hundreds of millions of Euros just lying around collecting dust. (see here)]

Writing exclusively in the first issue of the new Catholic Herald magazine, Cardinal George Pell says that the discovery means that the Vatican’s finances are healthier than they first appeared. [Lends credence to the “financial squeeze” theory behind Benedict’s abdication.]

He writes: “It is important to point out that the Vatican is not broke. [Dispelling the errant implication.] Apart from the pension fund, which needs to be strengthened for the demands on it in 15 or 20 years [After all those “Aggiornamentized” foot soldiers of the New Springtime will have gone on to meet their eternal destiny (see here)] , the Holy See is paying its way, while possessing substantial assets and investments.

“In fact, we have discovered that the situation is much healthier than it seemed, because some hundreds of millions of euros were tucked away in particular sectional accounts and did not appear on the balance sheet. [Oh how I am feeling the Lukewarn Nuncio’s pain.] It is another question, impossible to answer, whether the Vatican should have much larger reserves.” [see here]

Cardinal Pell was appointed prefect of the newly created Secretariat for the Economy in February, making him the most senior English-speaking official in the Vatican.

He explains that reformers had to tackle an ingrained sense of independence among Vatican departments.

“I once read that Pope Leo XIII sent an apostolic visitor to Ireland to report on the Catholic Church there,” he writes. “On his return, the Holy Father’s first question was: ‘How did you find the Irish bishops?’ The visitor replied that he could not find any bishops, but only 25 popes.

“So it was with the Vatican finances. Congregations, Councils and, especially, the Secretariat of State enjoyed and defended a healthy independence. Problems were kept ‘in house’ (as was the custom in most institutions, secular and religious, until recently). Very few were tempted to tell the outside world what was happening, except when they needed extra help.”

The cardinal suggests that for centuries unscrupulous figures took advantage of the Vatican’s financial naïvety and secretive procedures.

Vatican finances were unregulated and allowed to “lurch along, disregarding modern accounting standards”. But no longer: new structures and organisations are bringing Vatican finances into the 21st century, and making their workings transparent, with full accountability.

The cardinal writes: “A German princess once told me that many used to think of the Vatican as being like an old noble family slowly sliding towards bankruptcy. They were expected to be incompetent, extravagant and easy pickings for thieves. Already this misapprehension is dissolving.

“Donors expect their gifts to be handled efficiently and honestly, so that the best returns are achieved to finance the works of the Church, especially those aimed at preaching the Gospel and helping the poor escape from poverty. A Church for the poor should not be poorly managed.” [“helping the poor escape poverty”… I like that line. Almost like the “giving the man a fishing rod” proverb. Wonder what our Social Warrior modernists are thinking about their new financial overlord? And the follow-up question is how long until the plotting starts, if it hasn’t started already.]

Cardinal Pell says the involvement of lay experts is a fundamental part of the financial reforms. In the New Year, the Vatican will name a lay person as auditor general. [This suggestion I like. And this is the ONLY lay person who should be in the Vatican upper management] This new figure will be answerable to the Pope, but autonomous and able to conduct audits of any agency of the Holy See at any time.

“These reforms are designed to make all Vatican financial agencies boringly successful, so that they do not merit much press attention,” the cardinal writes. “Such ambitions cannot ensure that we will not find some static on the lines in the next year or so. But we are heading in the right direction.”

The cardinal also discloses that bishops around the world are eager to learn lessons from the Vatican’s financial overhaul. [Oh my. Looks like the modern day “Bernardins” will not be able to pay off their disgruntled rent boys from diocesan slush funds! (see here)]

“The responsibilities of the Secretariat for the Economy are limited to the Holy See, Vatican City State and the almost 200 entities directly answerable to the Vatican,” he writes. “But already some cardinals and bishops have wondered aloud whether the new set of financial procedures and chart of accounts, introduced in November this year in the Vatican, might be sent to bishops’ conferences for consideration and use. This is something for the future.”

Summa Summarum

As you can see dear reader, two things are very important to take away from this article. The first is this: even the 50 year New Springtime could not bankrupt an organization with the longest business continuity in the history of the world, i.e. the Holy Roman Catholic Church. Therefore, when this generation of despicable modernists goes on to their just reward, the Holy Spirit will have ample resources to “restore all things in Christ”. And the second takeaway it this: the most effective weapon against the Modernists is the pocket book. Therefore, if you dear reader want to help the Holy Spirit carry out it’s stated mission, please choose the parish that you attend and the envelopes into which you put your hard earned money very, very carefully.

Funding: The Transfer Window

Transfer WindowAs Sultan Obama’s amnesty decree becomes official ( see here), the Deus Ex Machina (DEM) blog is returning to yesterdays post titled “The Funding Model”, which highlighted the “new” source of funding that the Catholic Church and the rest of BIG RELIGION is presently enjoying from providing ” US Government funded service to illegal immigrants” entering into the US. (see here) Hence the title of the post “The Transfer Window”. But more on that below.

Today, DEM will deal with the Funding Model itself.

As we wrote yesterday,

Historically (and I mean historically), the Catholic Church was funded with alms giving. With the advance of modern society, different funding models arose. In the US, parishioners would not only support the Church through the Sunday collections, but in some cases leave part of their inheritance to the Church as well.

And we suggested that a funding model not based on Church attendance, with the resulting contributions flowing into the collection plates, deprives the Church of the necessary “sustainability” component in any long term economic and financial planning. (There, I used those words.) And when we are speaking about the Holy Roman Catholic Church, we need to consider funding models with an eye for the long term, as in “end of time” long term.

To reinforce the point above, please think about this extreme hypothetical situation dear reader: the Russian Monarch is overthrown, the Communists come to power, the Communists stop all government funding for church organizations and thereby church has an immediate cash flow problem.

See what I mean?

If we dear reader, don’t like extreme hypothetical examples, besides who likes “extremes”, we can examine a real life example. A good case in point is the situation in Germany with the infamous Kirchensteuer or the church tax (see here) and the creative ways in which the German bishops are trying to lure the Pew Sitters back. (see here and here). But I will leave the specifics to a future post. You need to trust me on this one. 😉

On an aside, in the second link, Fr. Z asks “Why is it that truly weird stuff comes into the Church from Germany?”. Hopefully this post will help answer this question, or at least point the good Father in the general directions. But I digress…

But getting back to the situation in the US and since we have identified and explained the problem as per the above, let’s try to transition into what a solution could possibly look like.

To use a professional sports analogy, the problem above reminds one of new management who is hired to take over the operations of a losing sports franchise in an attempt to turn them around. In our simple world example, the management would have two options:

1) Go out and pay for talent to give the franchise an immediate boost in order to turn the team around. Maybe through the transfer window? Hence the title of this post. For our example, let’s call this the USCCB option.

2) Invest in the young talent that it has in its organization knowing that in the longer term, those young players will provide the team with a stable base, and stable gate receipts for years to come. Let’s call this the SSPX option.

Now let me explain the reason behind the labeling of those two approaches. First reason being that the bishop of Rome just simply loves “to label”. Second is that it will allow us to transition into the suggested solution to the problem that we are trying to resolve.

The USCCB Option (as in the US Conference of Catholic Bishops).

The USCCB appears to be in a situation in which it is trying to rebuild its client base, to use a vulgar economic term. It has an abysmal track record with the “New Springtime” and “spirit of VII” strategies collectively known as the New Evangelization. From what it would appear, the USCCB has tried to implement a “quick fix” solution. This quick fix solution revolves around the premise that if the US Government opens the southern borders, i.e the “Transfer Window”, than those individuals coming across will most likely be Catholic, as per the percentages of the country of origination (see here), which will in turn raise the attendance in the church, which in turn will create new Pew Sitters, which will help with the cash flow problem.

Now I have not seen this in official Church documents to this effect, but observing what is happening, I would say that there is a high degree of correlation between ‘some ‘ Catholic bishops ‘flaunting if not outright breaking” US federal laws (see here and here) and those same bishops’ economic situation in their dioceses and parishes.

If the above is not true, please prove me wrong!

The SSPX Option (as in the Society of St. Pius X)

On the other hand, the SSPX appears to be “investing in young talent” to use the sports metaphor. It has never accepted the New Evangelization since the Old Evangelization has kept the franchise winning for 1930 years! And even when the franchise decided to commit collective suicide, and the SSPX still played ball the old fashioned way. And now, the SSPX have a growing base of dedicated Faithful who fill their pews and are raising the next generation of Pew Sitters in the mean time.

You want proof that what I have written is correct?

Two examples from two different countries on two different continents that are in the same situation due to accepting very bad management decisions. First from our new friend from Northern California writing on the Lamentably Sane blog, shares with us the following (see here):

The local FSSP parish is the exception to most of the rules, but there’s definitely a shortage of singles at the typical Novus Ordo parish. Whenever I attend the Novus Ordo on Sunday, it’s mostly a sea of white hair interspersed with a few young families who have very young children or recently baptized infants. Unmarried young adults between the ages of 18-29 are virtually nonexistent. I don’t think it’s a phenomenon restricted only to a few parishes in northern California. It’s a cliché now: good Catholic boy or girl is an altar server, attends all of the classes, receives all the sacraments, goes off to college, never darkens the doorstep of a parish again until sometime in their mid to late thirties, if ever.

And now, from Paris France, Father Z shares with us this observation (see here), along with pictures of some really ‘nice’ food. On an aside, it’s a European thing, calling food ‘nice’. But I digress…. His passages can be broken down into the respective models:

The SSPX Model

I went to St. Germain des’Auxerrois this morning for the 9:45 TLM. It was a sung Mass.
Afterwards, I spoke with whom I assume to be the parish priest. He recognized me right away (as often happens). We couldn’t chat long, because he wanted to greet people after Mass, but I think I may be on for their Thursday evening TLM. I still need a place for daily Mass but… I brought my Mass kit, complete with the SPORCH travel altar cards.

The Mass itself was well-attended, some 150+ and the majority of them young. There were quite a few families with children. Alas, they use for Mass a tiny versus populum altar, which is pretty cramped for the TLM. There is a grand altar in the sanctuary, however. A choral group sang for the Mass and there was good congregational participation in the sung responses.

The USCCB Model

Then, across the river and a brief visit to Saint-Séverin. Mass was just concluding and it was still pretty full, even after the rush of people leaving immediately after (I presume) receiving Communion. I saw a lot of gray hair and not many children or strollers. The modern glass in the ambulatory is horrific, by the way.

These strollers I see today… they look like something engineered by the European Space Agency to land on a comet.

…or to get the hell out of Dodge. 😉  [Ed. Note}

And finally, as I was reading through the above, a though came to mind. Do you, dear reader think that there might be a “general principal” that is underlying the Restoration of both these parishes; the FSSP parish in Northern California and the parish of St. Germain des’Auxerrois in Paris, parishes which happen to be in two different countries on two different continents, but applying the same remedy to the problem?

Further observation, could this “general principal” be considered falling in the category of a “universal law”?

If the above two questions are answered in the affirmative, could it be possible that we are observing the work of “divine intervention” in both these parishes?

On an aside, I’ve heard it said somewhere that the Holy Spirit is tasked with protecting the Bride of Christ? 😉

If the answers to the three questions are in the affirmative, then would it not necessarily follow that a certain bishop of a major Italian metropolis might need to “tweak” his personal magisterium?

Give all the above, and on a much more practical level, the positive answers to the above questions should go a long way in helping us assess who has the more “sustainable” funding model.

Turning East!

Wuntitledell folks, there is no gospel singing or knee slapping or even “theology done on the knees” to report on this end. But there is news of the Great Cardinal and another Bishop of the Holy Roman Catholic Church aspiring to greatness. News comes from Lincoln Nebraska that at the Lincoln Cathedral, midnight Mass on Christmas will be offered by Bishop James Conley Ad Orientem. More about that below.

Over on the always excellent Rorate Caeli blog, we have a video via Gloria TV and photos of the High Mass in Vienna offered by the Great Cardinal himself. I have linked (here) just in case you visit the NLM website first, you can easily transition over to Rorate Caeli.

I also think it worth while to point out that these decisions taking place now are not devoid of significance. Over at Fr. Z blog, we get a prayer request to Our Lady of the Clergy from the good Father asking the following: (link here)

In the meantime, perhaps you good readers would be so kind as to ask Our Lady of the Clergy to intercede on behalf of a few priests whom I know who are seriously beset in these… trying times.

Please pray for these persecuted Christians of the Cold variety (see here), who according to the bishop of Rome’s Tuesday homily at the Casa Santa Marta, God loves. But regardless, turning East is not what the bishop of Rome wants right about now, and while it might not affect ones health too severly, it definately is not good for ones career right about now. But hey, “if you want to climb, go to the mountains. It’s better for your health.” But I digress…

Over at the New Liturgical Movement blog we get the following post. I have reproduced in full:

Bishop James Conley of Lincoln, Nebraska has just issued a pastoral column in the diocesan newspaper, The Southern Nebraska Register, explaining the basics of celebrating the Mass ad orientem. His column also reveals a plan for the priests of the cathedral during Advent, and then he himself at midnight Mass on Christmas, to celebrate the Masses ad orientem.
Certainly this is an excellent example of the bishop of a diocese properly claiming his role as the “governor, promoter, and guardian of liturgical life in his diocese.”

Jesus Christ will return in glory to the earth.

We do not know when he will return. But Christ promised us that he would return in glory, “as light comes from the east” to bring God’s plan of redemption to its fulfillment.

In 2009, Bishop Edward Slattery, of Tulsa, Okla., wrote that “the dawn of redemption has already broken, but the sun—Christ Himself—has not yet risen in the sky.”

In the early Church, Christians expected that Christ would come soon—any day. There was hopeful expectation. They were watchful—they looked to the sky in the east to wait for Christ. And because they did not know when he would return, they proclaimed the Gospel with urgency and enthusiasm, hoping to bring the world to salvation before Christ returned.

It has been nearly two thousand years now since Christ ascended into heaven. It has become easier to forget that he will come again to earth. It has become easier to forget that we must be waiting, we must be watching, and we must be ready.

In the season of Advent, as we recall Christ’s Incarnation at Christmas, we are reminded to be prepared for Christ’s coming. In the Gospel for the First Sunday of Advent this year, Nov. 30, Christ tells us his disciples “to be on the watch.”

“You do not know when the Lord of the house is coming,” Jesus says. “May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping.”

We remember that Christ is coming whenever we celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. In the Holy Mass we are made present to the sacrifice at Calvary, and to the joy of Christ’s glory in heaven. But we also remember that Christ will return, and we remember to watch, to be vigilant, to wait for him, and to be prepared.

The Mass is rich with symbolism. The vestments of the priest remind us of the dignity of Christ the King. We strike our breasts, and bow our heads, and bend our knees to remember our sinfulness, God’s mercy, and his glory. In the Mass, the ways we stand, and sit, and kneel, remind us of God’s eternal plan for us.

Since ancient times, Christians have faced the east during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass to remember to keep watch for Christ. Together, the priest and the people faced the east together, waiting and watching for Christ. Even in Churches that did not face the east, the priest and people stood together in the Mass, gazing at Christ on the crucifix, on the altar, and in the tabernacle, to recall the importance of watching for his return. The symbolism of the priest and people facing ad orientem—to the east—is an ancient reminder of the coming of Christ.

More recently, it has become common for the priest and the people to face one another during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The priest stands behind the altar as he consecrates the Eucharist, facing the people. The people see the face of the priest as he prays, and he sees their faces. These positions can have important symbolism too. They can remind us that we are a community—one body in Christ. And they can remind us that the Eucharist, at the center of the assembly, should also be at the center of our families, and our lives.

But the symbolism of facing together, and awaiting Christ, is rich, time-honored and important. Especially during Advent, as we await the coming of the Lord, facing the east together—even symbolically facing Christ together at the altar and on the crucifix—is a powerful witness to Christ’s imminent return. Today, at a time when it is easy to forget that Christ is coming—and easy to be complacent in our spiritual lives and in the work of evangelization—we need reminders that Christ will come.

During the Sundays of Advent, the priests in the Cathedral of the Risen Christ will celebrate the Mass ad orientem. With the People of God, the priest will stand facing the altar, and facing the crucifix. When I celebrate midnight Mass on Christmas, I will celebrate ad orientem as well. This may take place in other parishes across the Diocese of Lincoln as well.

In the ad orientem posture at Mass, the priest will not be facing away from the people. He will be with them—among them, and leading them—facing Christ, and waiting for his return.

“Be watchful!” says Jesus. “Be alert! You do not know when the time will come.” We do not know when the time will come for Christ’s to return. But we know that we must watch for him. May we “face the east,” together, watching for Christ in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and in our lives.

Enjoy. 🙂

Funding: The Funding Model

Sultan O

As Sultan Obama the Magnificent prepares to act unilaterally on immigration and “relax” US immigration policy for as many as 5 million illegal aliens, completely bypassing Congress and creating another crisis in the process, the Catholic Church, as well as most of the other religious sects stand to gain “a small” windfall in the process.

Now for the record, I have nothing against immigrants personally. Actually, I am an immigrant myself and on more than one occasion. A repeat immigrant one could say. My first experience with being an immigrant was when my parents fled from that other “religion of peace”,, i.e. Atheistic Communism. So no one can accuse me of not feeling their pain.

On the other hand, I have never been a refugee. But then again, I thought that the problem of “being” a refugee, especially from Central and South America was nonexistent. I thought that this problem was resolved when all those Cold Christian (see definitions of Cold/Hot Christians here) military dictators, juntas and assorted strong men were replaced by Hot Christian military dictators, juntas and assorted strongmen. Furthermore, not only were these Hot Christian military dictators, juntas and strongmen supported by Catholic Church circles but in some instances overtly by Catholic Church structures themselves. Bah….let’s go further, some of these Hot Christian military dictators, juntas and strongmen were themselves clerics or former clerics (see here and here). I guess in these cases, the separation of church and state issues aren’t really that significant. And if we want to dabble in the questionable logical fallacy of guilt by association, the one that is all the rage in Modernist church circles these days (see here), I would like to point out that the said Hot Christian strongman alluded to earlier is from the same religious order as the Hot Christian strongman Archbishop of Tegucigalpa Honduras and present “Vice-Pope” (see here).  What is sauce for the goose should likewise be sauce for the gander. “Crypto-Salesianism” anyone? But I digressed…

But this post is titled The Funding Model, so let’s get back to the storyline.

The US Catholic Church stands to make a small windfall from this illegal immigrant amnesty decree. How so, you ask dear reader? Why it’s simple. The Obama administration is not only big-hearted to the illegal aliens themselves but also to their support networks. And one of the mainstay support networks, and also a major beneficiary of the Sultan’s big-heartedness is what has been termed BIG RELIGION (see here). And the Catholic Church is a BIG part of BIG RELIGION. Just how BIG the Catholic Church is as a part of BIG RELIGION can be observed from the website of the US Catholic Bishops’ Migration and Refugee Services (see here). On the US Catholic Churches website we count 10 different programs funded by grants from the US Government. And this is only the US Catholic Bishops’ Conference level. The US dioceses as well as the other Christian and non-Christian sects have their own versions of illegal immigration support programs (see here). So it is not a case of only the US Bishops’ Conference or the US Catholic Church in general.

Which brings me to the subject of this post, namely Funding Models. Historically (and I mean historically), the Catholic Church was funded with alms giving. With the advance of modern society, different funding models arose. In the US, parishioners would not only support the Church through the Sunday collections, but in some cases leave part of their inheritance to the Church as well. And as you can imaging, over time these trust funds, which were the recipients’ of the inheritances became quite sizable.  And it is not by a mere quirk of fate that these trust funds are also the targets of the “entities” suing the Catholic Church in the cases of abuse against children and young adults by pederast priests (see here). So in the classical funding model, if the Sunday collection take was a bit weak, the interest income from the trust fund would be used to augment the shortfall, and keep the parish/diocese/US Church in the black. That is the way it works, or rather used to work. I call this the “New Springtime” funding model.

However, with the advent of the great success of the “Spirit of V II” emptying out the churches, and the great success of the “Spirit of Vatican II” vocations (see here) which coincidentally fostered a very friendly environment for clerics who got too “close to their sheep”, it would appear that the US Catholic Church needed a new source of income. And with the Sultan’s immigration strategy and its government funded structures, looks like the US Catholic Church has obtained a new source of funding.

And I say, “Good for them”.

But the only lingering thought I have is this: is this new funding model sustainable?

From our Canadian warrior over at Vox Cantoris comes this:

“Why is Pope Francis blind to Germany’s rich and porn producing bishops?”

Vox has the story here. Link here:

Vox writes:
A few years ago, LifeSiteNews wrote about the “German Bishops being caught in a massive porn scandal.” After a papal rebuke, they announced that it would be sold. Yet we find that one year ago, this has not only not happened; but these same filthy Rhine bishops actually pumped over one billion Euros from Catholics back into its production!”

Paraphrasing the Michael Corleone riposte to his brother Sonny: “You see, it’s only business”. ;)

PS Great website, and has lots of info about one Tom Rosica CSB, who just so happens to be the assistant to Fr Lombardi in the Vatican press office.
