UPDATE

Polish BreakfastThis post was originally titled The Feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary, whose feast day is today. I have changed its title however, to give it a historical perspective. Even though the title is “lighter”, it does not distract from the intended context, triumphalist by its very nature.

Here is the original post:

Sobieski at Vienna 2Today, the 12th of September is the Feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary. It has been a universal Roman Rite feast since 1684, when Pope Innocent XI included it in the General Roman Calendar to commemorate the victory at the Battle of Vienna in 1683.

As to what is at stake, I link to a Fr. Z post that lays it out quite neatly in his post titled The final target of the Third Hijra: Rome and the Catholic Church. (see here)

Today more than ever, we need to go to Church, pray and do penance. Please also keep the Hungarians, the Poles and the Czech in your prayers. They are on the front lines and heroically resisting against much larger and better funded forces, both internal and external, of heretics, heathens and infidels.

Background of the Feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary from Wikipedia: (see here)

History

The feast day began in 1513 as a local celebration in Cuenca, Spain, celebrated on 15 September. In 1587 Pope Sixtus V moved the celebration to 17 September. Pope Gregory XV extended the celebration to the Archdiocese of Toledo in 1622.[3] In 1666 the Discalced Carmelites received permission to recite the Divine Office of the Name of Mary four times a year. In 1671 the feast was extended to the whole Kingdom of Spain.

Before the Battle of Vienna in 1683, John III Sobieski had placed his troops under the protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In the following year, to celebrate the victory, Pope Innocent XI added the feast to the General Roman Calendar, assigning to it the Sunday within the octave of the Nativity of Mary.

The reform of Pope Pius X in 1911 restored to prominence the celebration of Sundays in their own right, after they had been often replaced by celebrations of the saints. The celebration of the Holy Name of Mary was therefore moved to 12 September.[7] Later in the same century, the feast was removed from the General Roman Calendar in 1969 in the reform of the Calendar by Pope Paul VI, as something of a duplication of the 8 September feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary,[8] but it did not cease to be a recognized feast of the Roman Rite, being mentioned in the Roman Martyrology on 12 September. In 2002 Pope John Paul II restored the celebration to the General Roman Calendar.[

On a lighter side:

The Croissant:

The day was commemorated in Vienna by creating a new kind of pastry, known now as the croissant, shaping it in the form of a half-moon from the crest on the Turkish flag. It was eaten along with coffee which was part of the booty from the Turks.

Coffee in Europe: (see here)

Legend has it that soldiers of the Polish-Habsburg army, while liberating Vienna from the second Turkish siege in 1683, found a number of sacks with strange beans that they initially thought were camel feed and wanted to burn. The Polish king Jan III Sobieski granted the sacks to one of his officers named Jerzy Franciszek Kulczycki, who started the first coffee house. This story was published by the Catholic Priest Gottfried Uhlich in 1783 in his History of the second Turkish Siege, and he took some liberties. In reality, Kolschitzky’s coffee house missed being the first by more than a year. A more factual account has been reported by Karl Teply.[5]

After some experimentation, the legend goes on, Kolschitzky added some sugar and milk, and the Viennese coffee tradition was born. This achievement has been recognized in many modern Viennese coffeehouses by hanging a picture of Kulczycki in the window.[6] Another account is that Kulczycki, having spent two years in Ottoman captivity, knew perfectly well what coffee really is and tricked his superiors into granting him the beans that were considered worthless.[7]

So the next time anyone tries to convince you that a Polish breakfast has to do with cold cuts, please…please by all means correct them!

I have not posted lately since I am on vacation. I am spending time with the family, as per video above. However, that does not mean that I do not follow current events. A big Deo gratias for Pew Sitter website is in order here. But I digress…

The reason that I am breaking my radio silence a few days early is due to a post that appeared on the Fr. Z blog that I just couldn’t resist commenting on. The post is titled Coming Soon! The “Eleven Cardinals Book”! (see here) The reason that I am bringing this post to your attention is due to a certain name that appears as a contributor. In other words, one of these contributors is not like the others! 😉

For those who have been following this blog, you will notice it right off the bat. That cardinal is non other than the President of the Episcopate of the Netherlands Willem Cardinal Eijk, who we featured in our post titled The Neo-modernist “Theology of Death”! (see here)

And the reason that I am bringing this to your attention dear reader is for its historical perspective. Please recall that a predecessor of Willem Cardinal Eijk was the notorious Bernardus Johannes Alfrink the Archbishop of Utrecht from 1955 to 1975 and a major player at the Second Vatican Council. The manner in which Cardinal Alfrink figures into the destruction of the Catholic Church we described in two posts, i.e. Man Marking Marx – Dei Power Ball (see here) and Man Marking Marx – The Network (see here).

The significance of this development, as you can no doubt figure out, is that in the span of 50 years, the Dutch Catholic Church, whose representative lead the charge to institute the neo-modernist agenda at Vatican II, now finds itself in total disintegration. The FORCED realization of this OBJECTIVE FACT has led his successor to revert back a “more Catholic” agenda. Hence his contribution to the 11 Cardinal Book.

Below is the Fr. Z post that I am reproducing…  (original see here)

FOR THE RECORD

Coming Soon! The “Eleven Cardinals Book”!

Posted on 17 August 2015 by Fr. John Zuhlsdorf

The Italian site La Nuova Bussola has learned that, in advance of the upcoming Synod of Bishops on the family, yet another “Cardinals Book” is being released.

This time, however, its the “Eleven Cardinals Book™”!

This is sure to strike terror in the hearts of the Kasperites!

Eleven Cardinals, as the headline runs, are trying to stop the “Protestantization of the Church”.

In a way this is, but it also isn’t, a sequel to the Five Cardinals Book™, Remaining in the Truth of Christ: Marriage and Communion in the Catholic Church.

The names of the Cardinals involved:

  • Carlo Caffarra, Arcivescovo di Bologna;
  • Baselios Cleemis, Arcivescovo maggiore della Chiesa cattolica siro-malankarese e Presidente della Conferenza episcopale dell’India;
  • Paul Josef Cordes, Presidente emerito del Consiglio pontificio «Cor Unum»;
  • Dominik Duka, O.P., Arcivescovo di Praga, Primate di Boemia;
  • Willem Jacobus Eijk,  Arcivescovo di Utrecht;
  • Joachim Meisner, Arcivescovo emerito di Colonia;
  • John Olorunfemi Onaiyekan, Arcivescovo di Abuja (Nigeria);
  • Antonio Maria Rouco Varela, Arcivescovo emerito di Madrid;
  • Camillo Ruini, Vicario generale emerito di Sua Santità per la Diocesi di Roma;
  • Robert Sarah, Prefetto della Congregazione per il culto divino e la disciplina dei sacramenti;
  • Jorge Liberato Urosa Savino, Arcivescovo di Caracas, Santiago de Venezuela

The editor is the German professor of Canon Law Winfried Aymans, at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich.

It seems that Cardinals and only Cardinals are the writers.  I am pleased to see Card. Sarah in the list, as well as Caffarra.

It doesn’t say anything concrete about the publisher.  It doesn’t mention the title.  It doesn’t say anything about the languages, though given that this is in an Italian site we can assume Italian is – at least – one of the languages.

The Five Cardinals Book (which everyone ought to have, especially every priest and bishop) came out simultaneously in five languages.  HERE

Also, in the same Bussola piece there is a hint that another book is coming with contributions of 11 bishops and cardinals… all Africans!

You can guess what side of the marriage and the sodomy issues they will be on!

Cologne CathedralFOR THE RECORD

On the Eponymous Flower Blog, we are provided with figures for the number of Germans who have left the neo-modernist post conciliar German Catholic Church in 2014. (see here) This figure is:

217,716

Furthermore, this figure represents and increase of people leaving the German Catholic Church of 21.76%. The protestant denominations lost more, so this trend is likewise continuing.

Once again, the relevant passage from Markus Günther which was published on December 29, 2014 in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitungappeared via the Radical Catholic Blog post titled Church in Crisis: Diaspora Germany (see here):

But why are the seekers no longer finding guidance? Why are the supply and demand no longer jibing? The most popular answer to this question is: because the Church is no longer relevant to the times. She must conform more closely to the realities of the lives of modern people. Initially, that sounds plausible, but under closer scrutiny reveals itself to be idiocy. For the Evangelical church in Germany has done nearly everything which is being demanded from the Catholic Church in order to become more relevant to the times: women priests, the elimination of celibacy, liberality in moral theology, the complete acceptance of homosexuals and the divorced. If these were the real reasons for the malaise of Christendom, the Protestants should be far better off than the Catholics. But that simply isn’t the case. A second error in thinking is introduced by the popular buzzword “relevant to the times” [German: zeitgemäß, which can mean “modern,” “suitable,” or even “appropriate,” and often carries all of these shades when applied to the Church]: Wherever the Church does not base herself upon timeless, incontrovertible truth, she reveals herself to be purely man-made. Political programs should be “relevant to the times,” entertainment programming, too; but a religion must take command of absolute truths – or it is no religion at all.

And now to the Eponymous Flower post and the relevant figures.

The Numbers Leaving the Church in Germany Are Climbing

The German Bishops’ Conference has published the number of people leaving the Church in 2014. After 178,805 in 2013, 217,716 people have left the church in the following year. An increase of 20 percent! This is topped by the Protestant Church

Munich (kath.net/pm) The German Bishops’ Conference (DBK) are in the midst of silly season this Friday and the dioceses have reported the Church statistics in 2014 and again this is explosive, because the number of leaving the Church has risen significantly again. After 178,805 people left in 2013, 217,716 people have left the church in 2014. That’s an increase of about 20 percent. Church attendance has risen with an increase of 0.1 percent to 10.9 percent. The total number of priests is 12,219 (2013 12,336). The number of pastoral assistants is at 3,171 (2013: 3,140) which increased slightly as did the number of community workers at 4,526 (4,470 in 2013). Cardinal Reinhard Marx commented in a press release: “The statistics released today show that church is multiform and is a missionary force, even if we are made painfully aware of the high number of people leaving the Church, that we do not reach people with our message, there are personal life decisions behind the number of leaving the Church that in each case we profoundly regret but also respect the freedom of choice. We will strive to continue our mission credibly to gather so that we can proclaim the joy of the Gospel and many people will find a home in the community of church. The faith joy and momentum of Pope Francis has given us a great help. We want to be on the move with him ‘raising’ the church in Germany, to actively bring the people for God’s sake in community and gives testimony of the great message of the Gospel.”

The numbers leaving the Catholic Church are still comfortably topped by the Protestant church. There 410,000 people have left. According to the EPD deaths are also here included, however. They do not wish to publish exact numbers at present. Thus, the Catholic German Bishops’ Conference counted 23.9 million members at the end of 2014, the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) approximately 22.63 million.

Rush and Card. Weurl

FOR THE RECORD:

Below is a repost of a transcript from the Rush Limbaugh radio program. The subject is a responce by Cardinal Wuerl to a comment that Rush Limbaugh made on his show pertaining to the recent encyclical that was published by the Vatican. (see here)

For some reason the title of this encyclical has slipped my mind, but then again, it would appear that I am not the only one. (see here) But I digress…

But back to the story. What I found interesting in the below transcript is that it represents another observation of a theme that readers of this blog will find very familiar. This theme can be termed as the clash collision of  OBJECTIVE REALITY as represented by Rush Limbaugh and VIRTUAL ( or ALTERNATIVE) REALITY as represented by Cardinal Wuerl. Now I understand that politicians need to create their own reality to sell to voters and ideologues need to create their own reality to espouse to their followers. However, and being congnizant of the fact that neo-modernists need to create their own reality to feed the small “c” catholics, it is still very sad to observe when a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church is caught out being downright dishonest.

And if this episode can be turned into a teachable moment, it is that the next papacy should not be a papacy of neither mercy nor justice nor even catholicity, but rather one of HONESTY.

Because it is HONESTY that is the most lacking in the Catholic Church since the Second Vatican Council.

Cardinal Takes Your Host to the Woodshed on the Pope’s Encyclical

June 22, 2015

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Yesterday on Fox News Sunday, Cardinal… I’m not even sure how to pronounce his name. I did not see the episode. We’ll hear the sound bite in just a moment.

Cardinal Wuerl. W-u-e-r-l. You know the Fox News people called us on Friday and asked to use a clip from this program from earlier in the week. I said, “Yeah, yeah. It’s not the best clip, by the way. I mean, I said a lot of things later in the week that added to that, made it even better.” They said, “No, no! this is exactly what we want!” Okay. So I knew they already had their segment planned and they wanted to use a clip from me on Tuesday.

And since it was Fox, I granted them permission to do so. It was the sound bite where I — in analyzing the papal encyclical — suggested that what it essentially was is a commandment to vote for the Democrat Party. So Chris Wallace played that sound bite for Cardinal Wuerl and asked him to reply to it. We have that coming up. Also the… Let’s see, what else? Oh, I have learned, ladies and gentlemen, something I did not know.

The pope actually has a climate advisor working on his staff and he is a genuine lunatic. He’s a German. What did I do with it? I just printed it out, here. I’ll have to find it somewhere in one of these stacks here. But I really… When you look at some of the language that’s being used in the papal encyclical on climate change, it really does come from the leftist political world, all of the phrases that the pope uses.

I’m really beginning to wonder if this whole thing wasn’t put together by a committee that may have, essentially, just hijacked the Vatican by this. I mean, that’s what the left does. They move in, they corrupt things. Just have to see.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Fox News Sunday yesterday, this is what I talked about in the previous half hour. They called, they wanted to use an excerpt from this program. They didn’t tell me why. I mean, they didn’t tell me who their guest was gonna be, said it didn’t matter. It’s Chris Wallace, it’s Fox News Sunday, I’ve had nothing but pleasant experiences with them, I trust them, so I said go ahead, use it. Here’s the first bite.

WALLACE: While the pope has bigger things on his mind than American politics, some American conservatives say he is choosing sides. Cardinal, forgive me, because this is gonna get a little salty.

RUSH ARCHIVE: Essentially what this papal encyclical is suggesting is that every Catholic should vote the Democrat Party. How in the hell else do you interpret it when the pope comes out and sounds like Algore on global warming and climate change?

RUSH: Okay, so now the cardinal, whose name is Cardinal Wuerl, is asked to respond. Chris Wallace says, “I never thought I’d ask you this, how do you respond to Rush Limbaugh?”

WUERL: (whispering) Well, this is one of the great — one of the great blessings of America, isn’t it? We’re all allowed to speak our mind. Even if we don’t have all the facts, even if we don’t have a clear view of what the other person is saying, we’re all allowed to speak our mind, and that’s what he’s doing. Ah, I think what the pope is doing is something very, very different from that. He’s saying, “Why don’t we all discuss this? Why don’t we all come to the table, and before we start eliminating other people from the discussion — before denouncing them or even ridiculing them — why don’t we listen to them and see what they’re saying and see where we really ought to be going as a human family?”

RUSH: Now, I do not know Cardinal Wuerl. I don’t know his diocese, it’s not identified, I didn’t bother looking it up. The Cardinal is attempting to do two things here. He’s attempting to be polite and also to belittle me while being polite. Because I think the Cardinal — and he may not be aware, but many in the Catholic Church are profoundly aware of how strongly they are supported on this program and by me each and every time they come under cultural attack dating back to the early nineties and ACT UP storming into St. Patrick’s cathedral and throwing condoms and so forth during Cardinal O’Connor’s mass.

I was a guest of Cardinal O’Connor’s at his home on several occasions. My support for the Catholic Church during any number of things is well documented. The Cardinal here of course has to stand up for the pope. But here’s the problem with this. That’s not what the pope said. Now, I’m gonna say this with all due respect, and I’m gonna be as gracious as I possibly can to Cardinal Wuerl. But the pope, in his encyclical, does not say, “Why don’t we all discuss this? Why don’t we all come to the table and before we start eliminating other people from the discussion or denouncing them or ridiculing them, why don’t we listen to them and see what they’re saying.”

That’s not what the encyclical says. And, in fact, it’s not what happened. At the same time Cardinal Wuerl was on Fox News Sunday claiming that while I was practicing my God-given right to say what I think, that it’s wonderful even when people don’t know what they’re talking about, was this story. It had already been published the day before in the Washington Post:”

How Climate-Change Doubters Lost a Papal Fight — Pope Francis was about to take a major step backing the science behind human–driven global warming, and Philippe de Larminat was determined to change his mind. A French doubter who authored a book arguing that solar activity — not greenhouse gases — was driving global warming, de Larminat sought a spot at a climate summit in April sponsored by the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences.”

In other words, the pope convened a meeting. Somebody who does not believe in manmade climate change because of greenhouse gases wanted to attend. He was denied his request. The Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences was not interested in his point of view. “Nobel laureates would be there. So would UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, US economist Jeffrey Sachs and others calling for dramatic steps to curb carbon emissions.” There wasn’t one doubter.

“There wasn’t one person there who disagreed with the consenus of the worldwide left on manmade climate change due to fossil fuel creation of greenhouse gases. But it gets better than that. “After securing a high-level meeting at the Vatican, he was told that, space permitting, he could join. He bought a plane ticket from Paris to Rome.” This is the Frenchman. “But five days before the April 28 summit [on global warming], de Larminat said, he received an e-mail saying there was no space left.

“It came after other scientists — as well as the powerful Vatican bureaucrat in charge of the academy — insisted he had no business being there. ‘They did not want to hear an off note,’ de Larminat said.” They didn’t want to hear anybody that disagreed. Now, the papal encyclical does not “suggest that we, as a human community, sit down and discuss this.” The papal encyclical does not “welcome anybody and everybody” to the so-called table to discuss this. In fact, people who disagree or have an opposing point of view were uninvited, after having purchased plane tickets, were told not to show up.

You were only permitted to attend the Vatican Pontifical Academy of Sciences meeting on man-made global warming in advance of the papal be encyclical if you read with what the pope was going to say. Now, listen again to Cardinal Wuerl, Cardinal Donald Wuerl. This is yesterday on Fox News Sunday (again, just to rehash) people that disagreed with this consensus of man-made global warming stemming) from fossil fuel fuels and carbon dioxide poisoning were not permitted.

This Frenchman wanted to go, had his plane ticket purchased and was all set to go and was uninvited, as was everybody else who had an opposing view. Yet Cardinal Wuerl said this yesterday…

RUSH: You know, there’s further irony: That’s all I was doing. I was simply expressing my opinion about what the papal encyclical is, and it could have been written by anybody in the upper levels of the Democrat Party or the American environmental movement. So here’s Cardinal Wuerl saying, “No, no! The pope said we all need to sit down and talk about it.” Well, that’s not what happened! They did not permit people that didn’t agree with the pope’s consensus on this.

BREAKTRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I finally found it. The pope’s chief scientific advisor… This according to the UK Independent, which has, by the way, a scathing story. The UK Independent today with a scathing story on two things that are linked, that are creating massive worldwide problems. One of them is the European Union, just the very idea that it was tried and what a disaster it is and how that’s affecting Greece. The other problem that this man identifies — it’s a writer at the UK Independent — is the “fantasy world” the pope is living in.

His words, not mine. But it’s in that story that the pope’s science advisor is identified. I’m just gonna read you the passage from the UK Independent. “How forlorn in light of all this looks that would-be well-meaning 300-page document in which the Pope, under the spell of his chief scientific adviser, a fanatical German climate activist called Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, calls for an end to use of the very fossil fuels which keep the Vatican’s own lights on. In asking us to pray for that global climate treaty, Pope Francis solemnly trots out all those familiar plaints about ‘melting polar ice caps,'” which are not melting, “‘rising sea levels,'” which are not rising, “unprecedented droughts, ‘extreme weather events’ and the rest of that greenie litany which has no basis in honest science whatever.”

A “fanatical German climate activist.”

Not even a scientist! [...]

Yep, not even a scientist.

It used to be said that “honesty is the best policy”.

Fr. SchockenThe below post appeared on the Rorate Caeli blog. (see here) The subject matter is of critical significance since this latest iteration of the “NOUVELLE THEOLOGIE” for the lack of a better term, of the Rev. Schockenhoff  serves as the “philosophical” underpinning for what this blog terms the Bergoglian/Kasperian “theology done on the knees”.

What is most important to understand when reading the below is that the degeneration of what can be termed “post neo-modernist theology” has gotten to the point where its adherents aren’t even hiding the fact that this “theology” directly contradicts man’s knowledge of his Creator as known through “divine revelation”. (see here) The key takeaway is the following observation made by the author of this text: [with ed. notes]

He [Schockenhoff] makes no attempt to square this bizarre fantasy [his “theology”] with the words of our Lord in Mark 16:16: “He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned.”

In concluding, what we are a witness to on the one hand, is incontrovertible evidence that this “neo-modernist theology” has detached itself from even a superficial attempt to justify itself with respect to that part of the Catholic Faith that comes to us “as known through “divine revelation”.

On the other hand, we are also witnessing incontrovertible evidence of the incompatibility of this “neo-modernist theology” with our knowledge of God as known through “natural light of human reason from the things that are made”, ie. natural law, evidence that we can observe in the attempt to change Catholic doctrine with respect to the issue of aberro-sexulaity by TeamFrancis at the Synod of Bishops.

In other words, this latest iteration of this “post neo-modernist theology” designated on this blog as the Bergoglian/Kasperian “theology done on the knees” is completely contrived. It bears no content that is grounded in the Catholic understanding of either of the two sources of Catholic Faith, i.e. as known through “natural light of human reason from the things that are made” and as known through “divine revelation”. Furthermore, this latest version of “post neo-modernist theology” has degenerated to the point where its “inventors” can’t even hide this fact any longer.

On a higher level, what we now can observe is that during the short span of 50 years, the Catholic Church has gone from introducing a liturgy which was the “work of human hands” (see here), to attempting now to introduce a “theology” that is likewise the “work of human hands”. One can only understand this process of “normativization” as a logical progression.

Which raises one very important question for the Faithful, and that is this:

How much salvific value is contained in this Bergoglian/Kasperian theology done on the knees”… if any?

And now to the Rorate Caeli post and …

FOR THE RECORD

The Neo-Modernist Theology of Eberhard Schockenhoff

According to Edward Pentin, “the ‘mastermind’ behind much of the challenge to settled Church teachings among the German episcopate,” and “the leading adviser of the German bishops in the run-up to the synod” is Fr. Eberhard Schockenhoff, professor of moral theology at the University of Freiburg, about whom we have had occasion to report in the past. It is a sign of the state of theology in the German speaking world that Fr. Schockenhoff is considered a theological “moderate.” He is careful to quote the Fathers and Doctors of the Church to support his positions, and always makes a show of respect for magisterial teaching. This is probably the reason why the German bishops have chosen him, and not one of his more extreme colleagues to help them make the case for changing the unchangeable teachings of the Church on sexual morality.

Fr. Schockenhoff’s moderation is, of course, only a matter of style; an examination of his work shows him to be a dedicated neo-modernist. He lays out the fundamental principles of his theology in a remarkably clear and short book, Erlöste Freiheit [Redeemed Freedom], to which we refer in the page and section numbers bellow.

The fundamental principle of Schockenhoff’s theology is a certain understanding of revelation. According to Schockenhoff’s tendentious reading of Dei Verbum (which follows that of Max Seckler), Vatican II abandoned the traditional understanding of revelation as divine instruction and adopted a new understanding of revelation as “dialogical-communication” between God and man. This dialogical communication is a personal encounter with God, in which God communicates not truths that could be expressed in propositions, but rather simply His love. This entails a clear rejection of the definition of faith in Pope St. Pius X’s Oath Against Modernism: “a genuine assent of the intellect to truth received by hearing from an external source.” For Schockenhoff, faith is not assent to propositional truths proposed from without, but rather a personal encounter with God’s love

From this basic principle Schockenhoff draws some rather astonishing consequences. He argues that God’s dialogue of love with creatures implies a limitation of God’s omnipotence. God in creating free creatures to share His love allows Himself to be determined by human freedom (p. 54). This frankly blasphemous conclusion is part of a complete reworking of the relation between three terms that Schockenhoff takes to be the “fundamental values of Christianity”: freedom, truth, and love. He argues that abandoning the traditional understanding of revelation as divine instruction means that one can abandon the traditional idea that freedom and love both depend on truth (p.42). Instead, freedom and truth have to accompany each other:

The interior relation to the freedom of the subject follows necessarily from the epistemic presuppositions of revelation theory. Religious truth exists only concretely as the freely grasped subjective conviction of individual persons, and not as an abstract quantity, toward which the human person could have moral duties such as assent, acknowledgement, and obedience. (p. 44).

Thus religious truth takes on a particular personal form for each believer (p. 45).

The moral life on this account does not consists in ordering everything to God as final end, and thus in conforming to God’s will. Rather the moral life is a free dialogue of love with God, in which human persons freely cooperate in building up His creation (p.97). It is obvious that this approach can do away with the whole structure of traditional Christian morality. Moreover, Schockenhoff is quite clear that it excludes the traditional understanding of a great many doctrines of faith as well. Thus Schockenhoff explicitly states that his theology is not compatible with the teaching that Our Lord died in satisfaction for our sins (p. 58).

The case of Schockenhoff shows that present crisis is only superficially about sexual morality. The real issue is the nature of revelation and of faith. The fundamental problem with theologians such as Schockenhoff is a neo-modernist understanding of revelation. We are thus in full agreement with the insightful analysis recently offered at the traditionalist blog Laodicea:

Most of the particular controversies that have devastated the vineyard over the last hundred years are corollaries of the basic dispute, proxy wars for the real conflict. The basic question is this: is faith “a blind sentiment of religion welling up from the depths of the subconscious under the impulse of the heart and the motion of a will trained to morality” or is faith “a genuine assent of the intellect to truth received by hearing from an external source”?

As a kind of test to see how someone understands faith Laodicea offers the question as to whether explicit faith is necessary for salvation:

“can someone be justified after the age of reason without explicit faith in the Trinity and the Incarnation?” If you answer ‘yes’ to that question you are ultimately forced into accepting Modernism, if ‘no’ into rejecting it.

If one applies this test to Schockenhoff the result is entirely clear. In his discussion of eschatology, Schockenhoff argues that universal salvation is possible, but that God will make it depend on whether the victims of injustice freely choose to forgive those who harmed them. Only if the victims forgive will all men be saved (section 14.3). He makes no attempt to square this bizarre fantasy with the words of our Lord in Mark 16:16: “He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned.”

Personality Quiz IVToday we return to the theme of the HIDDEN AGENDA that was behind Francis’ calling of the “bi-synod” after the Consistory of Cardinals in 2014, i.e. the Secret Synod of 2014 and the Stealth Sex Synod this year.

We have demonstrated in numerous posts that the real reason for calling this synod was to change the Catholic teaching with respect to aberro-sexuality. We last summarized our argument in the post titled So It Was The Homo Agenda All Along. (see here) In this post, we highlighted the National Catholic Register article written by Edward Pentin relating the “closed-door meeting, masterminded by the German bishops’ conference under the leadership of Cardinal Marx”, and the almost exclusive focus of this one “study day” on changing Catholic teaching on aberro-sexuality.

In a subsequent post titled HIDDEN AGENDA Comes Out of the Closet, (see here) we explained how the promoters of the aberro-sexual have been “outed” and are now speaking about the ABERRO AGENDA openly. The money quote from the Pentin article was as follows:

Many observers have long expected Cardinal Kasper’s more explicit public support for the homosexual agenda, saying that the “opening” toward “remarried” couples was only the first step toward the widening of the revolutionary agenda, to include approval of same-sex relationships.

And this is where we pick up this thread today.

However, there is one problem with the above quote. The problem with the above quote is that it appears to limit the “revolutionary agenda” to the “opening toward married couples” and “same-sex relationships”.

The problem with this understanding of the “revolutionary agenda” is deceptive. In our post titled Francis “Showing a Leg”, (see here)  we explained why the issues relating to the “communion for the divorced and remarried” is a fake issue, or as we called it a “non issue”. It was introduced into the Secret Synod of 2014 deliberations to tie the HIDDEN AGENDA at the synod to “the Family”.

The important information that the above cited paragraph from Edward Pentin provides is that it confirms our analysis that the “opening” toward “remarried” couples” was a ploy and served as a transition mechanism through which the Secret Synod would introduce the ABERRO AGENDA. Once again the relevant passage reads: “opening” toward “remarried” couples was only the first step toward the widening of the revolutionary agenda, to include approval of same-sex relationships”.

And once again, this above confirms our analysis that appeared in our post titled Synod of the Three Paragraphs from the 18th of December 2014. (see here) This is how we concluded this analysis:

For those who have been following this thread, it is very apparent by now that the Secret Synod was called not to discuss issues concerning “The Family”, but rather had a hidden agenda to try to change the teaching on the “objectively intrinsically disordered” human condition of homosexuality.

A further confirmation of the correctness of our analysis came from none other than Francis, the bishop of Rome himself. On the 20 of March 2015, Francis made the following statement:

Francis called it a simplification to give people in such unions [Ed. Note: divorced and remarried] Communion because with that “we are not fixing anything.” He added, “What the church wants is for you to integrate your life into the life of the Church.”

“There are some who say: ‘No, I wish to take communion and that’s that.’” But the pope characterized this as making Communion a symbol or an honorific. To which he retorts, “No. Reintegrate.”

So from an objective reading of what Francis said, this would be consistent with Francis’ position all along, i.e. that he is against a doctrinal change in Catholic teaching with respect to the Holy Sacrament of Communion. To be more specific, Francis’ position is a “pastoral position” on this issue, as per Sandro Magister, is as follows:(see here)

On communion for the divorced and remarried, it is already known how the pope thinks. As archbishop of Buenos Aires, he authorized the “curas villeros,” the priests sent to the peripheries, to give communion to all, although four fifths of the couples were not even married. And as pope, by telephone or letter he is not afraid of encouraging some of the faithful who have remarried to receive communion without worrying about it, right away, even without those “penitential paths under the guidance of the diocesan bishop” projected by some at the synod, and without issuing any denials when the news of his actions comes out.

So this is the state of play on the issue of communion for the divorced and remarried. Just to recap, Francis is for and against at the same time, i.e. voting present.

As to the ABERRO AGENDA, we have some new developments. Actually, it is ONE development, but a rather important one. In an interview published on the Life Site News blog, (see here) Cardinal Robert Sarah, the prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments had this to say about the HIDDEN AGENDA that is being promoted under the banner of the Bergoglian/Kasperian “theology done on the knees” at the Synod of Bishops:

Regarding the Synod’s General Assembly in October 2014, the cardinal said, “It was clear that the real focus was not and is not only the question of the remarried-divorced persons, but, whether the doctrine of the Church is to be considered as an unattainable ideal, unachievable and therefore in need of a downward adjustment to be proposed to today’s modern world. If things are like this then it necessarily requires a clarification if the Gospel is Good News for man or an unnecessary burden which is no longer possible.”

What the good Cardinal is saying is that there in fact was and still is a HIDDEN AGENDA at play. Secondly, if this HIDDEN AGENDA is to be accepted by the Catholic Church, “necessarily […]a clarification if the Gospel” is required. And we know that this position is a non starter. Regardless of what was written in the Lineamenta.

Reading further, it appears that this was not the most important part of the interview. In the following paragraph, we read the following:

In answer to which ideologies to fight against today, the Cardinal unmasked the deceit and lack of true love behind them. “Today one of the most dangerous ideologies is that of gender, according to which there are no ontological differences between man and woman, and the male and female identity would not be written in nature. … To say that human sexuality does not depend on the identity of man and woman, but a sexual orientation, such as homosexuality, is a dreamlike totalitarianism, and is a real ideology which negates the reality of things. … I don’t see a future in such deceit.”

For our purposes here, the key point is that Cardinal Sarah ties homosexuality to the gender ideology.

This above paragraph is very important for two reasons, namely that TEAMFRANCIS at the Secret Synod of 2014 has been trying to introduce the change in Catholic moral teaching pertaining to homosexuality as an extension of “opening” toward “remarried” couples was only the first step toward the widening of the revolutionary agenda, to include approval of same-sex relationships, i.e. an issue of the “Family”.

Yet Cardinal Sarah clearly and poignantly places the promotion of the homosexual agenda not in the category of “the Family”, but rather into the category of the gender ideology. Once again:

In answer to which ideologies to fight against today, the Cardinal unmasked the deceit and lack of true love behind them. “Today one of the most dangerous ideologies is that of gender, […] such as homosexuality…

It does not get any clearer than the words of Cardinal Sarah that homosexuality IS an integral part, i.e. a subset of the gender ideology.

Furthermore, Cardinal Sarah has a large supporter of his position regarding gender ideology. It has been widely reported that over the span of the last few months, Francis has been observed to criticize gender ideology. Here is the relevant passage from the National Catholic Reporter titled Francis strongly criticizes gender theory, comparing it to nuclear arms. In the article, Francis is quoted as saying the following: (see here)

“Let’s think of the nuclear arms, of the possibility to annihilate in a few instants a very high number of human beings,” he continues. “Let’s think also of genetic manipulation, of the manipulation of life, or of the gender theory, that does not recognize the order of creation.”

I will leave of here for today, but the proximity of nuclear arms and gender ideology in this speech leaves little doubt as Francis’ public position on these two topics.

So concluding, the obvious point that needs to be made here is to ask the following question:

How can someone (Francis) who views “gender ideology” as the equivalent of “nuclear arms” that can “annihilate in a few instants a very high number of human beings”

and

simultaneously can promote the “homosexual agenda” by personally implanting the offending paragraphs rejected by the Synod Bishops regarding the “homosexual agenda” into the final Relatio and then instructing the synod bishops to disregard “doctrinal solutions” in the Leneamenta?

The only rational explanation to the above conundrum is that Francis does not understand that homosexuality is a part of gender ideology.

And if this is the case, then Cardinal Robert Sarah has just filled in the blanks for Francis.

Tyson FightingIn yesterday’s post titled Moving The Goal Posts, we left off our analysis of the Bergoglian/Kasperian “theology done on the knees” by identifying and defining its respective parts, in line with definitions as understood and used in the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. As we demonstrated in that post, this new “animal” with which we are dealing since that fateful speech of FrancisCardinal Walter Kasper at the Consistory of Cardinal of 2014, can best be classified as a The Theology of Lust™.(see here)

We concluded our post by explaining that this Theology of Lust™ is in fact nothing new. In essence it is no different than the protestant version of the theology of lust that the German Lutheran Church has instituted and has been systematically “developing” since at least the end of the Second World War. We used the Markus Günther article from the FAZ, translated on the Radical Catholic blog (see here) to support our contention.

On an aside, and as confirmation of the above, entering the “marks” of this protestant theology of lust into any internet search engine, such as DuckDuckGo for example, will yield numerous results from other protestant denominations. Here are just a couple of sightings. The protestant version of the theology of lust has an Anglican “strain” as described here, and an Episcopal strain as described here.

And since we are using the term “strain”, we can easily draw the conclusion that the appearance and spread of these various “strains” of The Theology of Lust™ would likewise be recognizable to the average epidemiologist. The symptoms and effects would be analogous to those which he would find dealing with viruses such as Ebola. With equally devastating results. But I digress…

Back to the subject at hand. We left off our post titled Moving the Goal Post making the observation that:

A Theology of Lust therefore, will not help the Catholic Church any more than it helped the Lutherans.

But for some reason, TEAMFRANCIS just doesn’t get it.

So today we pick up trying to answer  the question as to what exactly is the Theology of Lust™ and uncover another HIDDEN AGENDA. The natural place to start is by examining the motivation of the participants of this strategy Lord’s pastoral call behind the attempted introduction of the Theology of Lust™ into Catholic moral theology.

One clue as to the participants and motivation that we have at our disposal, comes by way of an analysis that your humble blogger did on the individual that is labeled as the driving force behind this Theology of Lust™ process, namely the FrancisCardinal Reinhard “Bling” Marx. In an interview that the Cardinal Archbishop of “Swank” gave to the Jesuit magazine America, which we analyzed in the post- Data Mining With Marx (see here) the following is written:

In the lecture, titled “The Contribution of Christian Values to the Common Good,” Cardinal Marx referred to his early formation into the “left position” of social justice—“how to work with those who are poor,” he said—through conversations with his father.

In that post we are introduced to the FrancisCardinals “values” and provided with a definition of what a “left position” could possibly mean. Of note is that this term has NO counterpart in Catholic moral theology or social teaching. This term “left position” is strictly a secular term that identifies a political view that can be better described as a leftist ideological persuasion.

Just for reference purposes,  “theology” is defined as: the study of religious faith, practice, and experience; especially: the study of God and of God’s relation to the world. A theological theory or system.

As for the former, here is how the term ideology is defined: (see here and emphasis added)

Ideology, in the Althusserian sense, is “the imaginary relation to the real conditions of existence.” It can be described as a set of conscious and unconscious ideas which make up one’s goals, expectations, and motivations. An ideology is a comprehensive normative vision, meaning that it is a set of standards that are followed by people, government, and/or other groups that is considered the “norm”. [1][further explanation needed], a way of looking at things, as argued in several philosophical tendencies (see political ideologies). It can also be a set of ideas proposed by the dominant class of society to all members of society (a “received consciousness” or product of socialization [further explanation needed], as suggested in some Marxist and Critical theory accounts. While the concept of “ideology” describes a set of ideas broad in its normative reach, an ideology is less encompassing than as expressed in concepts such as worldview, imaginary and ontology.

What I would like to draw your attention to dear reader is two aspects of the above definition that hold the key to understanding not only FrancisCardinal Marx but the entire TEAMFRANCIS effort which is the driving force behind the Theology of Lust™.

The first aspect of the definition is the part that states “imaginary relation to the real conditions of existence”. This phrase in and of itself is benign since it is nothing more than the restatement of a deductive or inductive scientific process or method. It can also be easily assimilated with the works of St. Thomas Aquinas or William of Ockham. Furthermore, it is nothing more than a restatement of one of the founding principles of the Roman Catholic faith, i.e. that part of the faith that comes to be “known through natural light of human reason from the things that are made”. Therefore, this above identified phrase, i.e. “imaginary relation to the real conditions of existence”, does not define an ideology in and of itself.

What is needed to complete the definition of “ideology” is the “normative” part. The definition of a “normative process” is as follows: (see here)

Normative means relating to an ideal standard of or model, or being based on what is considered to be the normal or correct way of doing something.

To be more precise and since we are in essence speaking about a philosophical or rather a pseudo-philosophical construction, the following passage is the key to understanding the nature of what constitutes an ideology:

In philosophy, normative statements make claims about how things should or ought to be, how to value them, which things are good or bad, and which actions are right or wrong. Normative claims are usually contrasted with positive (i.e. descriptive, explanatory, or constative) claims when describing types of theories, beliefs, or propositions. Positive statements are (purportedly-) factual statements that attempt to describe reality.

So from the definition of the term “normative” we can see the contradictory nature between a “normative process” or a “normative statement” and a “theological statement”, i.e. a statement whose essence is purely “positive”.

In other words, the Catholic faith is in part derived “through natural light of human reason from the things that are made”, i.e. a purely positive process. The other part of our Faith comes from divine Revelation, likewise a purely positive process arising from a completely rational and logical source, i.e. Our Lord. Combined, these two sources represent that which is by definition a “theology”.

In turn, the Theology of Lust™ of FrancisCardinal Marx is derived from “statements making claims about how things should or ought to be”. He calls them a “left position”. In other words, it’s a purely “normative” process, hence fitting the definition of an “ideology”.

And naturally, since the FrancisCardinal Reinhard “Bling” Marx is not God, he has no definitive underlying basis for this ideology, i.e. the Theology of Lust™.

And by analogy, one can easily infer that the protestant denominations, with their particular versions of their very own theologies of lust, likewise have this same inherent problem. They are likewise doomed to fail, since their “theology” is likewise, in essence an “ideology in disguise”.

So just to summarize, the Theology of Lust™ is nothing more than a “left position” ideology that is based on a “normative process making claims about how things ought to be”. Since it is a normative process, it has no underlying grounding in OBJECTIVE REALITY.

Although it could be quite appealing on a superficial level, the inherent contradictory nature of a normative process makes the Theology of Lust™ unsustainable in the long term. Empirical evidence from other protestant denominations that have instituted their own versions of this “ideology disguised as theology” demonstrates the disastrous effects and consequences.

Summa summarum, what we are dealing with here, with TEAMFRANCIS and their promotion of their “ Ideology of Lust™”, is what can be described as a lost cause.

To draw a colorful analogy, this lost cause is similar to that faced by a boxer  when stepping into the ring with Mike Tyson in his prime. The Ideology of Lust™ is like that boxer’s plan for defeating Tyson. When Mike Tyson was once asked about a challenger who claimed that he had a plan for defeating the champion, Tyson answered as follows: Everyone has a plan ‘til they get punched in the mouth.

And from looking at the experience that the protestant denominations have had with their versions of the Ideology of Lust™, it is pretty evident that OBJECTIVE REALITY has treated these denominations just as mercilessly as Mike Tyson treated his challengers.

Which leaves us to make the obvious observation: the Ideology of Lust™ is driven at least in part by a HIDDEN AGENDA of the FrancisCardinal Marx, a HIDDEN AGENDA that is in part ideological at its foundation. And being fully aware of the disastrous results of the Cardinal’s German protestant counterparts, one has to wonder what else, aside of ideology is lurking behind Marx’s HIDDEN AGENDA.

Long and Winding RoadToday is the 136th day from the start of what this blog has designated as the Stealth Sex Synod of 2015™. There has been a lot of new information coming out into the public domain recently, directly related to the afore-mentioned synod, so today we take one step back and incorporate this new material into our analysis. Therefore I will try to incorporate this new information into a series of posts, so as not to run long on any one particular sub-topic and to keep the analysis focused.

Just to demonstrate how drastically the EXPLICIT AGENDA of Francis, his hand-picked team of clerics in charge of the Synod, i.e. TeamFrancis and the German Bishops’ Conference leadership who are promoting this AGENDA has changed since Francis called for the Synod on the Family, we go to the very beginning. It needs to be pointed out that at the outset of this process, the “advertized” end result of this bi-synodal process was to be an apostolic exhortation along the lines of an “updated” Familiaris Consortio.

The first that was heard about this Extraordinary Synod of Bishops was in early October 2013, or 6 months after Francis was enthroned. The purpose of convening this Synod was as follows: (see here)

Today, Pope Francis called for an Extraordinary Synod of Bishops that will be held from October 5-18th, 2014 at the Vatican. The synod will reflect on the theme “The Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of the Evangelization.”

The original problem identified for which the Synod was convened was described as follows:

It is important that the Church move forward together as a community, in reflection and prayer, and decide on common pastoral orientations dealing with the most important aspects of our life together – particularly on the family – under the guidance of the Pope and the bishops. The convening of this Extraordinary Synod is a clear indication of this direction.

The stated goal of the Synod was as follows:

During that meeting, Pope Francis stated that the matter would be discussed with the Council of Cardinals, which took place last week in the Vatican, as well as in the next Synod of Bishop. “A synodal approach should be taken to study this problem.

Just so we are clear, the “study” of this “problem” related to “important aspects of our life together – particularly on the family”. The result of this bi-synodal PROCESS would be a papal document along the lines of an postsynodal apostolic exhortation along the lines of “updated Familiaris Consortio”.

So this is how the process was billed.

Just to demonstrate how “off the radar” was any issue related to changing Catholic doctrine with respect to “objective intrinsic disorders” collectively knows as aberro-sexuality was at this time, here is how Sandro Magister described the interventions at the Secret Synod of 2014: (see here)

Homosexuality was one of the most controversial questions at the recent extraordinary synod on the family, as proven by the vast difference between the paragraph dedicated to it in the final “Relatio” and the three paragraphs of the previous “Relatio” halfway through the discussion.

And what was the basis for this “vast difference”? It was as follows:

But the prehistory of these paragraphs is also indicative. Two of the three synod fathers who had raised this issue during discussions in the assembly – the only ones out of the almost two hundred present – in fact supported their arguments with statements of pope Jorge Mario Bergoglio.

Archbishop of Kuching John Ha Tiong Hock, president of the episcopal conference of Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei, referred to the passage of the interview with Francis in “La Civiltà Cattolica” in which the pope urges the Church to mature and reformulate its judgments on the understanding that the man of today has of himself – including on the matter of homosexuality, the archbishop specified – with the same willingness for change that it demonstrated in the past in radically changing its judgments on slavery:

And just to demonstrate the impact that these three individuals had on the mid-term Relatio, here is how Magister described it:

The “Relatio post disceptationem,” in the three paragraphs dedicated to homosexuality, revisited and further developed the things said in the assembly by the Malaysian archbishop, by Fr. Spadaro, and by Cardinal Christoph Schönborn, the third to speak on the issue.

The inferences that one should extract from the above are as follows:

– Since only 3 of the more than 200 participants even raised the issue, the Synod bishops were not prepared to discuss issues relating to changing Catholic teaching regarding aberro-sexuality,

– Francis had to lay the groundwork for these three interventions since there is NO MAGISTERIAL TEACHING in existence that would support the types of changes that TeamFrancis wanted to institute,

– The Synod bishops recognized that the only supporting “theology” that the three interventions had for their position on aberro-sexuality was from interviews given by Francis to the Jesuit magazine La Civiltà Cattolica,

– This issue was such a “non-issue” that one of the interventions was by the editor of the above mentioned offending magazine, Fr. Antonio Spadaro. It can be assumed that this issue was not even discussed before the Synod since Fr. Spadaro raised it so that it would at least get raised,

– In the case of the Malaysian archbishop, his intervention was made on the basis of a cognizant belief that it was Francis who wanted this change in Catholic moral teaching and the issue only arose after the La Civiltà Cattolica article.

So this was the state of play in October 2014.

And what is the state of play at present?

For this we go to the Edward Pentin article in the National Catholic Register that was reproduced in the previous post titled So It Was The Homo Agenda All Along. (see here) Here are the salient data points from the “one-day study meeting — open only to a select group of individuals — took place at the Pontifical Gregorian University on Monday with the aim of urging “pastoral innovations” at the upcoming Synod of Bishops on the Family in October.”:

The closed-door meeting, masterminded by the German bishops’ conference under the leadership of Cardinal Marx. ( It) took place just days after the people of Ireland voted in a referendum in support of same-sex “marriage” and on the same day as the Ordinary Council of the Synod of Bishops met in Rome. Some observers did not see the timing as a coincidence. So secret was the meeting that even prominent Jesuits at the Gregorian were completely unaware of it. Cardinal Marx insisted the study day wasn’t secret. But he became irritated when pressed about why it wasn’t advertised, saying he had simply come to Rome in a “private capacity”.

The cardinal is known to be especially eager to reform the Church’s approach to homosexuals. During his Pentecost homily last Sunday, Cardinal Marx called for a “welcoming culture” in the Church for homosexuals, saying it’s “not the differences that count, but what unites us.”

The key topics discussed at the closed-door meeting was how the Church could better welcome those in stable same-sex unions, and reportedly “no one” opposed such unions being recognized as valid by the Church.

Among the featured participants was “included Jesuit Father Hans Langendörfer, general secretary of the German bishops’ conference and the leading figure behind the recent reform of German Church labor laws to controversially allow remarried divorcees and homosexual couples to work in Church institutions. A prominent critic of Humanae Vitae (The Regulation of Birth), as well as a strong supporter of homosexual clergy and those pushing for reform in the area of sexual ethics, Father Schockenhoff. In 2010, he gave an interview in which he praised the permanence and solidarity shown in some same-sex relationships as “ethically valuable.” He urged that any assessment of homosexual acts “must take a back seat” on the grounds that the faithful are becoming “increasingly distant from the Church’s sexual morality,” which appears “unrealistic and hostile to them.”
Father Schockenhoff has also gone on record saying that moral theology must be “liberated from the natural law”. Another suggestion was that “official Church” should be done away with because of a growing gap between the institutional Church and the Church of the faithful. This is widely seen as code words for understanding the Bible differently from Tradition — and the need for a “reflection on a theology of love.”

By replacing the theology of the body with a “theology of love,” it creates an abstract interpretation that separates sex from procreation, thereby allowing forms of extramarital unions and same-sex attractions based simply on emotions rather than biological reality.

At the meeting, conspicuously failed to mention sin, ended by saying that “further discussion on the future of marriage and family is necessary.

And yet…

(At the meeting, among others was discussed the) “importance of the human sex drive,” and the “develop” the Church’s teaching on human sexuality and called not for a theology of the body, as famously taught by St. John Paul II, but the development of a “theology of love.”

“Imagine if the Church accepted homosexual relationships,” said one source speaking on condition of anonymity. “Ultimately, that is what these people want.”

Summa summarum, it should become quite obvious reading the above, how the “advertised” purpose for calling the Extraordinary Synod of Bishops was described in early October 2013 and how it mutated into the present state of affairs.

Initially, the Secret Synod of Bishops were caught off guard by a HIDDEN AGENDA that only emerged after the release of the mid-term Relatio. Since this moment however, the Synod bishops have been so effective in blocking this revolutionary HIDDEN AGENDA of TeamFrancis that the Bishops have forced the TeamFrancis subversives to declare what it is that they are after.

And now that the Catholic bishops are aware what it is that TeamFrancis and the promoters of this HIDDEN AGENDA want to force through the Stealth Sex Synod of 2015, they should be in a much better position to not only resist, but to thwart the entire subversion of Catholic moral teaching by Team Francis and its promoters.

But more on this tomorrow.

ShockedFOR THE RECORD:

Below is an article from the National Catholic Register. (see here) The reason that I am reproducing this article in its entirety is that it adds more data points that strongly confirm two themes that this blog has been pursuing.

The first theme is that the two Synod’s were called due to a HIDDEN AGENDA, a HIDDEN AGENDA that this blog identified as “changing Catholic moral teaching on aberro-sexuality”. Reading the below, it becomes obvious that communion for remarried is just a side issue, as was the billing as a Synod about the family. The side issues were needed to create the impression that the HIDDEN AGENDA encompassed more than just the fraction of the 1% of Catholics who may suffer from any of the “objective intrinsic disorders” that collectively comprise aberro-sexuality. We laid out the case for this in a series of post that culminated in our post titled The Three Paragraphs. (see here)

The second theme that we have been pursuing is that of the Soap Bubble Papacy™. We have demonstrated that the entire Francis Effect at its base, is nothing more than a VIRTUAL REALITY, a media created illusion that Francis is “popular”. This aspect of the Francis Effect was very poignantly summed up by Cardinal Brandmuller when he made the following observation: “It is superficial. Were this a religious movement, the churches would be full”. We illustrated this Soap Bubble Papacy™ in posts such as Searching for the “Illusive Francis Effect” (see here) and A Grand Ole Time Had By All (see here).

When reading the below, please keep the above in mind for context. (with emphasis added)

Confidential Meeting Seeks to Sway Synod to Accept Same-Sex Unions

ROME — A one-day study meeting — open only to a select group of individuals — took place at the Pontifical Gregorian University on Monday with the aim of urging “pastoral innovations” at the upcoming Synod of Bishops on the Family in October.

Around 50 participants, including bishops, theologians and media representatives, took part in the gathering, at the invitation of the presidents of the bishops’ conferences of Germany, Switzerland and France — Cardinal Reinhard Marx, Bishop Markus Büchel and Archbishop Georges Pontier.

One of the key topics discussed at the closed-door meeting was how the Church could better welcome those in stable same-sex unions, and reportedly “no one” opposed such unions being recognized as valid by the Church.

Participants also spoke of the need to “develop” the Church’s teaching on human sexuality and called not for a theology of the body, as famously taught by St. John Paul II, but the development of a “theology of love.”

One Swiss priest discussed the “importance of the human sex drive,” while another participant, talking about holy Communion for remarried divorcees, asked: “How can we deny it, as though it were a punishment for the people who have failed and found a new partner with whom to start a new life?”

Marco Ansaldo, a reporter for the Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica, who was present at the meeting, said the words seemed “revolutionary, uttered by clergymen.”

French Biblicist and Ratzinger Prize-winner Anne-Marie Pelletier praised the dialogue that took place between theologians and bishops as a “real sign of the times.” According to La Stampa, another Italian daily newspaper, Pelletier said the Church needs to enter into “a dynamic of mutual listening,” in which the magisterium continues to guide consciences, but she believes it can only effectively do so if it “echoes the words of the baptized.”

The meeting took the “risk of the new, in fidelity with Christ,” she claimed. The article also quoted a participant as saying the synod would be a “failure” if it simply continued to affirm what the Church has always taught.

The closed-door meeting, masterminded by the German bishops’ conference under the leadership of Cardinal Marx, was first proposed at the annual meeting of the heads of the three bishops’ conferences, held in January in Marseille, France.

The study day took place just days after the people of Ireland voted in a referendum in support of same-sex “marriage” and on the same day as the Ordinary Council of the Synod of Bishops met in Rome. Some observers did not see the timing as a coincidence.

The synod council has been drawing up the instrumentum laboris (working document) for the October synod on the family. Integrated into the document will be the responses of a questionnaire sent to laity around the world. Those responses, particularly from Switzerland and Germany, appeared to be overwhelmingly in favor of the Church adapting her teachings to the secular world.

Why the Lack of Publicity?

No one would say why the study day was held in confidence. So secret was the meeting that even prominent Jesuits at the Gregorian were completely unaware of it. The Register learned about it when Jean-Marie Guénois leaked the information in a story in Le Figaro.

Speaking to the Register as he left the meeting, Cardinal Marx insisted the study day wasn’t secret. But he became irritated when pressed about why it wasn’t advertised, saying he had simply come to Rome in a “private capacity” and that he had every right to do so. Close to Pope Francis and part of his nine-member council of cardinals, the cardinal is known to be especially eager to reform the Church’s approach to homosexuals. During his Pentecost homily last Sunday, Cardinal Marx called for a “welcoming culture” in the Church for homosexuals, saying it’s “not the differences that count, but what unites us.”

Cardinal Marx is also not alone, among those attending the meeting, in pushing for radical changes to the Church’s life. The head of the Swiss bishops, Bishop Büchel of St. Gallen, has spoken openly in favor of women’s ordination, saying in 2011 that the Church should “pray that the Holy Spirit enables us to read the signs of the times.” Archbishop Pontier, head of the French bishops, is also known to have heterodox leanings.

The meeting’s organizers were unwilling to disclose the names of everyone who took part, but the Register has obtained a full list of participants. They included Jesuit Father Hans Langendörfer, general secretary of the German bishops’ conference and the leading figure behind the recent reform of German Church labor laws to controversially allow remarried divorcees and homosexual couples to work in Church institutions.

Father Schockenhoff

Among the specialists present was Father Eberhard Schockenhoff, a moral theologian. Some are particularly disturbed about the rise to prominence of Father Schockenhoff, who is understood to be the “mastermind” behind much of the challenge to settled Church teachings among the German episcopate and, by implication, at the synod on the family itself.

A prominent critic of Humanae Vitae (The Regulation of Birth), as well as a strong supporter of homosexual clergy and those pushing for reform in the area of sexual ethics, Father Schockenhoff is known to be the leading adviser of German bishops in the run-up to the synod.

In 2010, he gave an interview in which he praised the permanence and solidarity shown in some same-sex relationships as “ethically valuable.” He urged that any assessment of homosexual acts “must take a back seat” on the grounds that the faithful are becoming “increasingly distant from the Church’s sexual morality,” which appears “unrealistic and hostile to them.” The Pope and the bishops should “take this seriously and not dismiss it as laxity,” he said.

Father Schockenhoff has also gone on record saying that moral theology must be “liberated from the natural law” and that conscience should be based on the “life experience of the faithful.”

He has also insisted that the indissolubility of marriage is “not seriously called into question” by admitting remarried divorcees to holy Communion and that the term the “official Church” should be done away with because of a growing gap between the institutional Church and the Church of the faithful.

Also present was Marco Impagliazzo, president of the Sant’Egidio lay community; Jesuit Father Andreas Batlogg, professor of philosophy and theology and chief editor of the liberal periodical Stimmen der Zeit (Voices of the Time); and Salesian Msgr. Markus Graulich, prelate auditor of the tribunal of the Roman Rota — one of very few Curial officials to attend. Some of those participating, such as Msgr. Graulich, took part in the previous synod.

Media Participation

Also noted were the large number of media representatives. Journalists from the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, German broadcasters ZDF and ARD, the Italian daily La Repubblica and French-Catholic media La Croix and I-Media were also present. Their presence was “striking,” said one observer, who predicted they will be used to promote the agenda of the  subject matter under discussion in the weeks leading up to the synod.

Monday’s meeting is just the latest attempt to subtly steer the upcoming synod in a direction opposed by many faithful Catholics. A statement on the study day released by the German bishops’ conference May 26 said there was a “reflection on biblical hermeneutics” — widely seen as code words for understanding the Bible differently from Tradition — and the need for a “reflection on a theology of love.”

This, too, is seen as undermining Church teaching. By replacing the theology of the body with a “theology of love,” it creates an abstract interpretation that separates sex from procreation, thereby allowing forms of extramarital unions and same-sex attractions based simply on emotions rather than biological reality. Gone, say critics, is the Catholic view of marriage, which should be open to procreation.

The statement, which conspicuously failed to mention sin, ended by saying that “further discussion on the future of marriage and family is necessary and possible” and that it would be “enriched by a further, intensive theological reflection.”

This, too, is code for wanting a change in teaching, giving the impression that the doctrine in these areas is open to change. But for the Catholic Church, it is a settled issue.

“Imagine if the Church accepted homosexual relationships,” said one source speaking on condition of anonymity. “Ultimately, that is what these people want.”

I rest my case!

Concluding, somehow I am not shocked,… shocked that the HIDDEN AGENDA of the Secret Synod of Bishops of 2014 and the upcoming Stealth Sex Synod of Bishops of 2015 was and will be all about “changing Catholic moral teaching on aberro-sexuality”.

T -152: Francis’ Revolution Put On Hold

Che Revolution ApplesToday we transition away from Poland, but will return in two weeks time to see how the Catholic candidate fared in the upcoming presidential elections. The reason that this blogger sees this election as an important event is that it is the first national elections since the downfall of what has been known in Poland as the “Lagiewniki Church”. Just as a reminder, the Lagiewniki Church was an artificial creation of the domestic ex-communist elites, the purpose of which was to create dissent within the Catholic Church in Poland in order to split the Catholic vote. We explained this situation in our post How The Mighty Have Fallen (see here). But more about the wider implications of this election for the Polish Episcopate Conference and the Church in Poland will be provided in the future post.

In today’s post, the first of two, we turn our sights onto another “revolution”, or to be more precise, a subversive operation that has failed. This revolution is the one created by Francis in order to change Catholic doctrine with respect to the Gender ideology, an ideology that is being heavily promoted by the German Bishops’ Conference. We explained the relationship between the German Bishops’ Conference and BIG GENDER in our post Meet Big Gender (see here).

The manner in which Gender Theory ties into the Francis papacy in general and the Synod of Bishops in particular we outlined in our post titled The Three Paragraphs. (see here) In this post, we laid out our case for why the Synod of Bishops was called for no other reason than to “do something” about the “intrinsically disorder” description of sexually aberrant behavior contained in the post Vatican II papal magisterium. The change in this area of Catholic doctrine could then be used to open the Catholic Church to the zeitgeist of our times. Here is what we wrote:

The Synod was controlled and manipulated by a group of clerics who were taking their directives from Francis himself. The way in which the Manipulators wanted to change Church teaching was first by discarding the Church’s existing Magisterium and the foundations for the Church teaching on homosexuality, replace this body of teaching with something new, only grounded in the speeches, newspaper interviews, musings at the Domus Sanctae Marthae and off-the cuff remarks the magisterium of Francis. They tried to find the magic formula,i.e. Modernist Magic Words that would allow for this change in teaching to slip past the Synod bishops.

Since the above analysis was written on the 18th of December 2014, the Francis revolution has come to a screeching halt. Looking back at what transpired in that fateful month of December 2014, and what has happened since, one can clearly identify the moment when TeamFrancis lost the initiative by over-playing their hand. That critical moment occurred on the 9th of December when the Synod secretariat released the Lineamenta (instructions) to the upcoming Synod of 2015. Here is how we described this event:

And finally, the “Lineamenta” (the preparatory outline for the next synod of bishops) has been sent to the episcopate conferences on the 9th of December with not only the corrupted text containing the discarded paragraphs on the “objectively intrinsic disorder” of homosexuality, but also with instructions for the bishops to “disregard the Church doctrine and do whatever Francis wants”.

Looking back with 20/20 hindsight, we now can more accurately assess the significance of the Lineamenta, the reaction of the Synod bishops and the Roman Curia to this evil document, the counter-response of Francis to the Bishops and Curia’s reaction i.e. the Christmas message to the Roman Curia and the subsequent change of strategy Lord’s pastoral call undertaken by Francis.

Just to refresh our collective memory, Francis’ response to the reaction of the Church hierarchy to the Lineamenta, was his Christmas message to the Curia. The background to this episode and the resulting violent and abusive speech given by Francis to the Roman Curia was outlined in our post titled A Time of Reflection of Sorts. (see here)

The A Time of Reflection of Sorts post was published on the Monday, the 19th of January 2015. Today we will bring this thread up to date. To this end, Sandro Magister has done a great service since he has provided us with a list of what has been said by Francis since the end of 2014 and his own interpretation of Francis’ statements. In his blog titled The Closed Door of Pope Francis (see here), the following assessment of the of the present situation is provided:

Until the synod of October 2014, Jorge Mario Bergoglio had repeatedly and in various ways shown encouragement for “openness” in matters of homosexuality and second marriages, each time with great fanfare in the media. Cardinal Kasper explicitly said that he had “agreed” with the pope on his explosive talk at the consistory.

Continuing, Magister observes the following:

From the end of 2014 until today, there has not been even one more occasion on which he has given the slightest support to the paradigms of the innovators.

On the contrary. He has intensified his remarks on all the most controversial questions connected to the synodal theme of the family: contraception, abortion, divorce, second marriages, homosexual marriage, “gender” ideology. And every time he has spoken of them as a “son of the Church” – as he loves to call himself – with ironclad fidelity to tradition and without swerving by a millimeter from what was said before him by Paul VI, John Paul II, or Benedict XVI.

And the reason behind Francis’ actions, according to Magister is the following with emphasis added:

But the reality is entirely different. As a perfect Jesuit, Bergoglio is a great realist and has already understood – even just from scanning the names of the delegates elected by the various national episcopates – that the next session of the synod will be even more unfavorable for the innovators than the previous one.

In the above passage lies the true cause for the abandonment suspension of the revolution by Francis and something that this blog has been pointing out in numerous posts.

To confirm what is written above by Magister, I would like to point to another post written by the Vatican watcher and very pro-Francis journalist Andrea Gagliarducci. In his MondayVatican blog, in a post titled Pope Francis, the diplomacy of freedom (see here),  the author makes the following observation:

But there is no revolution in this Vatican, and a single anecdote can confirm this. The only new body to arise out of the reform was the Secretariat for the Economy, 85% of whose current employees were taken from other economic bodies of the Holy See. Commenting on this fact, a source involved in their selection stated that “(these people) were good and skilled: why should we get rid of them?”

The above observations obviously refers to the “revolution” with respect to abolishing restructuring the Roman Curia. For a single anecdote to confirm that the doctrinal “revolution” has been put on hold, the hysterical speeches being put out by Reinhard “Bling” Marx, the cardinal of Swank provide us with proof. The relevant passage is contained in our post titled When Doves Cry (see here) and reads as follows:

We are no subsidiaries of Rome. Each conference of bishops is responsible for pastoral care in its culture, and must, as its most proper task, preach the Gospel on our own. We cannot wait for a synod to tell us how we have to shape pastoral care for marriage and family here”.

Obviously, for Card. “Bling” Marx, the proverbial wheels came of his wagon and he started to throw his toys out of his pram. Excuse the mixed metaphors.

So the question now becomes this: why has Francis put the “revolution” on hold?

I will finish here for today and keep you dear reader in suspense.

Tomorrow this blogger will examine the cause behind why Francis has decided to put his revolution on hold.

So stay tuned.
