Surely this is some kind of joke–making these two saints. Only if destruction of the Church was a reason for making someone a saint would they qualify. Both were Marxists, both left the Church worse off they they found it. Your statement, “The Vatican, no doubt, has complex reasons for canonizing these two men just now”, must be tongue in cheek. Of course, our dear Pope has his reasons and they are purely political Catering to his prime left wing audience is surely one. But most important reason for the canonization of Pope Paul and Oscar Romero is that establishes Marxism as the Church’s ideal social structure. Not good Robert, not good at all.
